  1. Only had one listen. Struck me as an instrumental Soul album more than Jazz. Not a bad thing at all.
  2. Yeah, well the flares were certainly wide
  3. Now this Neal Creque - Creque [Cobblestone, 1972]
  4. little trip to my local shop Herbie Mann - Monday Night At the Village Gate [Atlantic, UK 1966 mono] it must've been great to be in the room with this band
  5. waiting for that to hit the UK. Bet it's good, the previous one was very good
  6. Thanks for confirming. Just interested to know that my hunch was correct
  7. I'm not a Facebook user but is it a discussion about how they were set to release it on LP and BN stepped in to do the job with the Tone Poet? I'm only guessing but elsewhere on the board someone mentioned a UK label was set to reissue it on LP and I thought it could be Wallen Bink.
  8. Yes and yes! They have done a lovely job but it is definitely priced as "boutique" or perhaps for the foolhardy!
  9. Damn. Loved his early albums and the comeback ones too.
  10. Kent Carter - It Will Come [Le Chant Du Monde, France 1979] Listening and wondering whether Carter ever made a disappointing album. Can't think of one.
  11. Staying in South Africa Gideon Nxumalo - Gideon Plays [Matsuli, 2021 RP]
  12. Ibrahim Khalil Shihab Quintet - Spring [Matsuli, 2020 RP] a very nicely produced reissue
  13. The Roland Kirk Quartet - Meets The Benny Golson Orchestra {Mercury, Netherlands, mono]
  14. Brother Jack McDuff - Prelude [Prestige, 1964] My introduction to BJMcD. A freebie thrown in by a seller with another LP.
  15. Jaimie Branch - Fly Or Die Live [International Anthem, 2021}
  16. No, I didn't. my initial question was very much meant in jest, I hope you realise. I'm not a connoisseur so I've not knowingly tasted Ceylon. It's very much the bog standard cuppa for me, staple hereabouts. i suspect your more finessed approach pays greater rewards. If I can be of help tracking Ceylon for you do say
  17. You're doing it right if that's how you enjoy it. Here most people will take their tea, especially breakfast tea, with milk - a good old fashioned English cuppa. Sweetened, if at all, by sugar. Tradition would have it, and my dear departed grandma too, that it's best made in a teapot, initially warmed with boiling water. And that the milk is added to the cup first. Personally it's a tea bag in the mug, brewed for a few minutes, stirred and milk added. Bob's your uncle, as we'd say
  18. Best wishes for your mother's health. Enjoy that haul, that's a great cover photo
  19. Or a clean in my zen-like manual cleaning regime Vive L'Art du Son!
  20. sounds fun! And I had 8 delivered this week without even leaving the house...
  21. Thank you for articulating my thoughts on this so concisely. I've been trying to work out to say that this release is less about the studio release than all the press suggests.
  22. I'm glad That wine shop isn't easily accessible to me, could be very disastrous. Flashback used to be my local but more recently I find them very hit and miss. Sounds like you hit nicely
  23. I didn't know this was up for reissue, thanks for posting Pim. I only know it by reputation. @clifford_thorntonis your man for more knowledge I suspect
