  1. Just to add my appreciation for this list. I know, and have. lots of them but that's just an endorsement to check out all those I don't.
  2. Definitely a great album.
  3. I bought a copy of the Francis after Paul Secor recommended it here, must be 10 years ago now. Excellent album.
  4. Such a great feeling when you finally pull the trigger on a long held want. And then it arrives! A favourite Japanese dealer of mine had one for sale a couple of weeks ago, I wonder if you were the lucky buyer... Enjoy being at the East!!
  5. I've largely stopped posting here, my loss I know and I'm not asking anyone to care, and the continued sniping at those expressing a passion for the LP format is one of the reasons. The other day a thread was started with great enthusiasm about two recent LP reissues of important music. Within about two posts that enthusiasm had been dismissed by posts pointing out the lack of extra tracks that had been available on CD. The thread was about the music but too soon comments, some with vaguely disguised snideness/dismissiveness had derailed what could have been a really interesting thread about the music contained on the release, rather than about the format.
  6. The renaming is an overtly political act (and stating that isn't in itself political) so commenting on it without being political is an interesting approach. A new parlour game for the holidays perhaps. Good luck everyone
  7. I saw Westbrook Blake performed at Kings Place getting on for 10 years ago now. It was honestly astonishing and very moving. The power of Blake's words was perfectly expounded by Minton and Westbrook that night too. I'm so pleased to hear that last night's performance was equally as powerful. This is a landmark work of British music, transcending genre.
  8. Enjoy that. I seriously considered going but I have a few other festival gigs lined up. I also haven't seen him in ages, possibly 30+ years
  9. I tapped my foot every time I saw Brötzmann play. Just saying, doesn't add anything to the "debate" I admit, beyond the old trope of letting each person enjoy the music they enjoy in the way they do and avoid generalisations.
  10. Very nice. Do you have Tsabropoulos's solo disc 'Akroasis' on ECM? My favourite of his I think
  11. Memphis has big "shoes" to fill... I enjoy that Haden a lot but feel it's not quite up to heights of other LMO albums I knew that, just didn't want anyone to be confused
  12. Lovely album Is Scott Stan's brother? 😃
  13. I saw them perform that, very special
  14. That's a great album
  15. That's a Tabor I don't know, will sort that out. Seeing her in a couple of weeks with Quercus
  16. Such a titan, he left us a beautiful legacy
  17. Perhaps connected to https://www.northernpublicradio.org/2025-09-11/jazz-head-at-kennedy-center-is-the-latest-firing-at-the-beleaguered-arts-institution
  18. Immanuel Wilkins - Blues Blood [Blue Note, 2024] Such a great listen, I always thank @jazzbo as I listen to it for his championing of it. I was very lucky to see a truly marvellous concert by Ganavya this week. Wilkins guested on just two tunes but made a big impact.
  19. Credence Clearwater Revival - Willy & The Poor Boys What a great album. Reacquainted after about 30 years following listening to a radio interview with John Fogerty. I remember hearing CCR when I was about 15 and they (alongside Bob Seger) epitomised what this British suburbs boy thought America sounded like 😀 I soon learnt it sounded like a lot more too!
  20. Yes, I can hear that. And, yes
  21. That's great to hear, two musicians I really enjoy so good to know they work well together. Now I just need them to come to London together, both are here often individually so there's a sllther of hope.
  22. Thanks, fingers crossed. I only ever get VAT requests prior to delivery, held until paid. Never retrospectively, don't like that idea at all
  23. I think it was probably this 2003 tour. I saw the London show https://www.theguardian.com/music/2003/may/23/jazz.artsfeatures1
  24. This is my reaction too. Even PoD, which I should know backwards the number of times I've heard it, reveals new delights every listen. Thanks, I didn't know of this. There's been a couple of very good UK bands playing Hill repertory recently, not yet recorded though.
