  1. That's a great way to christen a new flat. Hope you're happy there
  2. Billy Harper - Trying To Make Heaven My Home [MPS Spain, 1980 repress] Thanks for the reminder, copy ordered.
  3. Billy Harper - The Believer [Baystate, 1980]
  4. gradually ticking them off. Wholly driven by the enthusiasm on this board for all things BH
  5. Billy Harper - Knowledge Of Self [Denon, 1979]
  6. I bought a box set from them last year, very well packaged in a box with bubble wrap inside. Made it to the UK in perfect condition
  7. England, yes. Scotland, no. Southgate was clueless with the substitutions, he has five so use them if you're not winning and don't take off your most creative player, Foden Kane is hamstrung by a system that had no England players getting to the byeline to put in crosses, not once! Scotland have some more than decent players and just need a good striker.
  8. Third that duo, terrific album. I'll be interested to sample the Parker albums
  9. Well played Scotland. England were awful, complete lack of imagination.
  10. Yeah, I was dead chuffed when it popped up on my Discogs wants this morning from a UK seller.
  11. And if you're thinking of the download option you can purchase individual tracks for $1.50 to make up your own set
  12. really enjoying this, so far but there's long way to go (59 tracks to be precise)
  13. Streaming this set now. 'Desafinado' definitely identifiable as have been the other two tunes I've heard so far. To me it just sounds like Anthony Braxton playing some famous tunes. If you don't like his playing elsewhere this isn't going to convert you. I always hear the standards and tribute albums as his recordings where his 'cool' influences are so apparent, but what do i know.
  14. And LP Standards sets in the pre-CD age too
  15. The band is Alexander Hawkins (of this parish) p. Neil Charles b. Stephen Davis dr., that's Alex's trio early review here https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jun/18/anthony-braxton-quartet-standards-2020-review-astonishing-chronicle-from-a-one-off Those band details are actually on the page that you linked to, towards the bottom where it gives an overview of the recordings
  16. My source was pretty reliable. I suspect the difference between the live experience and relistening four years later is what's creating the doubt. I remember more Braxton. I'm not stressing about it just listening and enjoying it a lot this time round. It's a very nice recording if it is live.
  17. Composition No. 420 from the Café Oto gig I attended so I'm led to believe
  18. Not just reissues either. The recent Charles Lloyd release was a Tone Poet, imaginatively titled 'Tone Poet'
  19. finally found an LP set at a price I could justify spending
  20. I think once it was decided to be a multi-country based competition the location of the final became largely irrelevant in footballing terms. Reports here suggest the government is considering relaxing quarantine rules for UEFA officials and VIPs so that it stays at Wembley. Another 'one rule for us, one rule for them, so beloved of Boris and his cronies. If it does go to Budapest my main concern would be the publicity coup it gives the Orban regime.
