    Jon Hassell RIP

Family have announced his death through the GoFundMe page that had been supporting his health costs recently, aged 84 Not a Jazz musician by any means but a very influential musician nonetheless that has made some important recordings. A new Hassell album was always an event in my household. It will be a day of listening to them for me.
  2. My thought exactly. I once saw Evan P with a copy at the Vortex, nearly mugged him
  3. Yes, the twofer sounds better to my ears (it's cheaper too). Some Discogs comments mention copies being pressed side 1 & 4 and 2 & 3, mixing up the sessions but mine's standard
  4. Switched to to the same music on this Punchier sound, better bass presence, denser
  5. Sam rivers - Dimensions & Extensions [Blue Note, 1986] the DMM release, sounds OK but a bit thin. Would like to hear a Tone Poet of it. The music is great.
  6. Agood reissue of the Ashby has been needed. Off to check how much on the expensive side they are... Edit to add: hmm...£70, that expensive
  7. That's something you would think Strut might have thought to do
  8. I thought Komeda was a pianist. Zbigniew Namyslowski is the alto sax player on 'Astigmatic' surely?
  9. Just comatose after watching England play
  10. Boris and The Flag Shaggers - Fuckin' Up who'd have thought they'd do a Neil Young cover Geert Wilders and The Freedom Party - Oranges Are Lemons
  11. I often wonder how the so-called non-mainstream media has the resources to carry out all the investigations that they apparently do, so successfully. Happy to be enlightened.
  12. such a great album, thanks to Jazzcorner for posting it in another thread
  13. Narcissus & The Conspiracy Theorists - 'It Always Happens To Me'
  14. How is the Salah Ragab?
  15. Good old Gilles P
  16. Shirly Scott Trio - Great Scott!! [His Masters Voice, UK 1964 mono] not as pictured
  17. That footage is chilling
  18. Andrew Hill - So In Love [Warwick, Japan, 1976 RP] preceded by Andrew Hill - Hommage [East Wind, 1975]
  19. Horace Tapscott - Tapscott Sessions vol.2 [Nimbus West, 1982]
  20. Bob Moses - Visit With The Great Spirit [Gramavision, 1984]
  21. Boris Johnson Matt Hancock Gina Coladangelo - oops
  22. Interesting. Pure Pleasure haven't done Blue Note before, I don't think. Not that that disqualifies them from doing so. One label that did was WallenBink who released the expanded Pearson's 'I don't Care Who Knows It' although that appeared to be a collaboration with BN I could imagine Gearbox having a try at Hill not least as I know the owner is a massive BN fan and collector.
