  1. Sometimes, like when I read posts like this, I just know I was born ten years too late That shop had definitely gone by the mid-80s when I was strolling around Camden on a regular basis looking for obscure rock, best characterised as Indie I guess. The very first stirrings of Jazz interest at the time took me to a couple of market stalls and the shop on the bridge which had Jazz down the spiral staircase and whose name completely escapes me (possibly to do the the effects of other recreational activity at the time). Looking agan at that photo I wonder whether its's the same shop under an earlier guise
  2. And I remember the entire CD reissue series lined up on the wall of Ray's Jazz...picked them all off to have a good luck, I didn't buy any and to this day I can't remember why not Hope you enjoy the reacquaintance, it's a fine session. Tusques' contributions really stood out this afternoon aside from Thornton's of course
  3. I've a few LPs with Rare and Racy provenance, all purchased on eBay or Discogs, mostly free jazz and its ilk. It must've been a great shop in the late 70s/80s from the look of this small sample of its stock
  4. Clifford Thornton - Panther And The Lash [America] a longtime favourite - a gem of a recording. Only just tracked down a nice vinyl copy
  5. Joseph Beuys - Utopia At The Stag Monuments https://ropac.net/exhibition/utopia-at-the-stag-monuments as always with Beuys, very thought provoking, mostly very positive. In a commercial gallery I'd not previously visited. Gorgeously restored and very grand 18th century townhouse. Almost worth the visit for the uilding alone
  6. UK seller on Discogs listing at 9.99+pp
  7. Similar line up on this one too All Texier albums on Label bleu come highly recommended. They are a great run, his French and adopted French bands are every bit as good as the Transatlantik Quartet. I'd say that they're better on a number of the releases. Sclavis, Romano, Deschepper, Ferris, Rabeson - there's some great players on these releases and Texier's writing is always worth the entry fee
  8. Charles Tyler Ensemble - s/t [ESP] another recent acquisition. Another ESP triumph
  9. Mine arrived a couple of days ago - one for concentrated weekend listening. Here's hoping it lives up to expectations
  10. EDQ -They All Be On This Road [Ogun] lovely version of Naima
  11. The Keith Tippett Octet - The Nine Dances Of Patrick O'Gonagan [Discus] Great writing, great playing. Here's to KT making a full recovery and making more joyously vital music as this
  12. Thanks. I'll add it to the "to investigate" list
  13. I agree. Those bass clarinets...the vibes and Sharrock amongst all the other great playing and the writing.
  14. Bev says "hello" back to you all. He's in fine fettle
  15. Marzette Watts - Marzette And Company [ESP]
  16. Yes, I'm thoroughly enjoying it and hoping the neighbours are too...or they're out at work I have Mine's "2nd Album" which I bought on spec for some reason I don't now recall.I need to dig that out again as I remember being impressed (and I've still not got round to "Tao Of Mad Phat"..ho, hum, too much music etc etc)
  17. One of today's arrivals Ornette Coleman - An Evening With Ornette Coleman [International Polydor] Heaven only knows why I've waited so long to hear this but the advantage lies in hearing new-to-me Ornette music of such a high standard for the first time
  18. I need to dig that out again. A real favourite at the time of release
  19. Sounds like one for me
  20. Sons Of Kemet - Lest We Forget What We Came Here To Do [Naim] revisiting this one due to the coverage of their new release on Impulse! I still sounds vital
  21. I'm meeting up with him tomorrow. I'll see what response "Mel Collins" produces. My money's on KC before Camel
  22. Grant Green - Funk In France [Resonance] LP1 followed by way of contrast Nedly Elstak Trio + Voice - The Machine [Fontana]
  23. Gregory Lewis - Organ Monk Blue [s/r]
