  1. Glad you like it, Adrian. It is very good meanwhile I have thanks to pass onto Niko for posting the Mike Zwerin Trio earlier this week as I've now been enjoying these two as Niko observed, Giuffre-esque but with Django instead of Jim Hall. Lovely stuff
  2. Mats Gustafsson, Craig Taborn - Ljubljana [Clean Feed]
  3. Joachim Badenhorst - The Jungle He Told Me [Smeraldina-Rima]
  4. Martin Kuchen - Hellstorm (Man erkennt langsam das Elend, dass über uns gekommen ist) [Mathka]
  5. I always feel that this one stands a little outside Brotzmann's other recordings. A bit more "jazzy" perhaps. I like it no less for that
  6. Deep Listening Band - Needle Drop Jungle [Taiga]
  7. That's a good 'un. Agree about the Beatles tune. I'm a non-believer when it comes to them so I usually steer clear as much as possible
  8. sounds interesting
  9. Paul Horn - Plenty Of Horn [Dot]
  10. Fuchs, Van Hove, Lytton - Wo Der Kopf Sitzt [FMP]
  11. GigI Gryce and the Jazz Lab Quintet [Riverside] my second step into the world of the Jazz Lab recordings. So far, both I've bought have been winners
  12. Thank you Niko, that's what I'd imagined and hoped it might sound like. I'd visited Zwerin's site and missed the clips there, so thanks for that too. I just found both LPs quite cheaply priced online so may well follow your lead. I'm definitely intrigued
  13. I'm very intrigued by that line up. I tried to find a sample of the music online but failed. How would you describe the music? In my mind I'm thinking quite chamber-jazz, something Giuffre-esque in style if not actual sound?
  14. Too true but without you I'd not know how grateful I should be to them!
  15. Al Francis, John Neves, Joe Hunt - Jazz Bohemia Revisited [Lost Cosmic Unity] I'm forever grateful to Paul Secor for posting this LP a while ago and therefore alerting me to its delights
  16. Makaya McCraven - In The Moment, E & F Sides [International Anthem] more great contemporary Chicago music Now, that is some contrast to the Grant Greens This sounds intriguing, Gustafsson and Moore, if a tad intimidating, Merzbow, (I may stick with the The Necks...). Rarenoise has an eclectic catalogue, equal parts intriguing and scary I find. Apropos of another thread discussion, a very good Wadada Leo Smith was released by them in the last year or so
  17. Irreversible Entanglements - s/t [International Anthem/Don Giovanni Records] As I hear it, one of the most exciting, original and vital contemporary releases of recent times
  18. and it's a very entertaining and informative listen, folks
  19. Barry Guy, Evan Parker - Incision [FMP]
  20. following on from more Schweizer on this Pierre Favre Trio - Santana [Pip]
  21. Me too. Really enjoyable programme
  22. Happy Birthday! May the reign of Ubu continue
  23. I'm very pleased it found a good home where it's obviously appreciated. Now I'm off to brush up my Klingon
  24. Oh, that's Ok then, it means I don't have to be huffy that you bought the copy I wanted... I'm still non-retired for a few years yet but home working can help with listening opportunities when the admin gets too mindless to do without distraction Clare Fisher - Surging Ahead [Fontana]
  25. Tasty. I want one of those. I tried to have Scotty beam me one down a few months ago but wasn't quick enough on the draw. Is yours of Vulcan provenance perhaps? Chico Hamilton Quintet - s/t [Vogue, UK] MJQ - Plays the Music from Porgy and Bess [Philips, UK] this is just gorgeous
