  1. John Tchicai and Cadentia Nova Danica - Afrodisiaca [MPS, France] every time I play this I'm struck by how fresh and inventive it sounds
  2. E.M.T. - Canadian Cup Of Coffee [FMP] Alfred Harth, Sven-Ake Johansson, Nicole van den Plas
  3. Just played it again. It's very good indeed, recommended
  4. I hope you enjoy that one. It's a duo I struggle with due to the harshness of some of Leigh's sounds but I know that's my loss as I'm missing out on prime Brotzmann
  5. I'd agree with that assessment except there's a couple I'd keep before this one. I typed something recently about another Brotzmann recording being at the Jazzier end of the spectrum and I think the same goes for this. The rhythm section really lay down something that PB responds to in a very responsive manner and perhaps less assertive than on many of his recordings. This is another good one with Hopkins onboard
  6. Interesting read. Thanks for posting I've been appreciating his work all the more since acquiring the NYAQ 'Call It Art' box recently
  7. I'm surprised they're still going, haven't thought about them in nearly 40 years. Any original members?
  8. Nice Roswell. I assume it's what Emanem reissued Stephen McCraven Quartet - Intertwining Spirits [Free Lance]
  9. Paul Horn - Impressions of Cleopatra [CBS] packaged to tie in with the film obviously but the music doesn't have any discernible influence from the film that I can make out
  10. 'Big' John Patton - Blue John [Blue Note, France] Not sure how many times I've looked at this cover and not spotted "George Braithwaite". He loses the "waite" on the back cover. Music's still good
  11. Thanks. I've been meaning to check out Kloss so this would be a good opportunity
  12. as is said in certain Jazz clubs...Nice. Both the story and the signed 'El Hombre' any particular recommendations amongst the Muse titles? I was looking at 'Exit' earlier
  13. Pat Martino - We'll Be Together Again [Muse] spare and beautiful duets with Gil Goldstein on electric piano. I need some more Martino of this vintage, I think
  14. inspired by up thread. The nearest I have. Sadly with no Cherry on top but tasty enough
  15. Many Happy Free Jazz returns of the day, Steve
  16. Glad you like it, Adrian. It is very good meanwhile I have thanks to pass onto Niko for posting the Mike Zwerin Trio earlier this week as I've now been enjoying these two as Niko observed, Giuffre-esque but with Django instead of Jim Hall. Lovely stuff
  17. Mats Gustafsson, Craig Taborn - Ljubljana [Clean Feed]
  18. Joachim Badenhorst - The Jungle He Told Me [Smeraldina-Rima]
  19. Martin Kuchen - Hellstorm (Man erkennt langsam das Elend, dass über uns gekommen ist) [Mathka]
  20. I always feel that this one stands a little outside Brotzmann's other recordings. A bit more "jazzy" perhaps. I like it no less for that
  21. Deep Listening Band - Needle Drop Jungle [Taiga]
  22. That's a good 'un. Agree about the Beatles tune. I'm a non-believer when it comes to them so I usually steer clear as much as possible
  23. sounds interesting
  24. Paul Horn - Plenty Of Horn [Dot]
  25. Fuchs, Van Hove, Lytton - Wo Der Kopf Sitzt [FMP]
