  1. Slipped already, added The Complete Pacific Jazz And Capitol Recordings Of The Original Gerry Mulligan Quartet And Tentette With Chet Baker to today's purchases. That should scratch my West Coast itch for a while I hope. I daren't look at the BN sale!
  2. The Complete Pacific Jazz Studio Recordings Of The Chet Baker Quartet With Russ Freeman Having flirted with this Mosaic for ages finally pulled the trigger. Now really excited to dig into it
  3. Be interested to hear what you make of it. It's obviously sparser being a trio and I think the clarinet playing is pretty special. In those sleeve notes it mentions that he was well taken by Coltrane's 'Om'! Brotzmann/Van Hove/Bennink - Balls [FMP, Germany 1977 RE]
  4. It's definitely worth it if you do find one Today's playlist SML - Small Medium Large [International Anthem, US 2024] Keiki Midorikawa - Five Pieces Of Cake [Offbeat Records, Japan 1975] Laurel Halo - Atlas [Awe, US 2023] Anthony Braxton - Creative Orchestra Music 1976 [Arista, US 1976] Okay Temiz Trio - Turkish Folk Jazz [Sonet, UK 1975] no Stenson on this @HutchFan but I think it's the better album of the two that arrived recently
  5. 10 days in, symptoms subsided and back to normal or as close to as I'll ever be. A slight cough but I have undderlying respiratory issues so that's to be expected. Some fatigue but again that's ever present in non-Covid times.
  6. Great label, consistent quality
  7. That's interesting, is it alternates or new tunes?
  8. Just found this too https://icporchestra.bandcamp.com/album/icp-orchestra-plays-herbie-nichols-in-nijmegen-1984
  9. Often wondered about that
  10. Yes, it's great isn't it. Stenson's so good as the piano shouldn't really fit into the music. I've been after it for years (saw Temiz in the 90s) and it popped up on a dealer's list the other day.
  11. Kim Gordon at Glastonbury She most definitely still has it, whatever it may be. Effortlessly cool as ever....
  12. Okay Temiz - Oriental Wind [Sonet, UK 1977]
  13. 😂definitely the best suggestion yet!! Better than going all Viking and burning it all as it leaves it open for future generations of archeologiss to decode the societal impact of box sets.... Sounds like an interesting festival too, joking aside
  14. Yes, finally jumped. Prices only seemed to be heading one way and I sold a heap of old non-Jazz LPs recently so had a decent fighting fund. I listened to 'Approach' for the first time at the weekend, largely because of Togashi. Every time I thought "no, this is too smooth" something happened to snag my interest again. I definitely hear your ECM comparison. Enjoy it when it arrives. 'Distant Thunder' is a great choice
  15. Thanks will check it out
  16. Finally bought the LP of Spontaneous Music Ensemble - Karyobin Long time want off the list
  17. Thanks, that's the only other one I own, I should have mentioned that. I agree it's a good one. He also appears on a couple of Vesala ECMs that I have.
  18. Revisiting this thread as I've been listening to Szukalski with Stanko over the weekend. He's a real powerhouse on these albums Can anyone recommend anything by him other than with Stanko?
  19. Thanks for such an insightful response. 'Restrained" and "almost like" WCJ actually make it more attractive to me. I also didn't realise Jaspar is on it, I rate him. I guess I should stream the albums and hear for myself but this has definitely nudged me into the "buy it" camp. Now, that shelf space...?
  20. I'm a fan of Ross too so look look out for it. Marcus Gilmore is someone I enjoy as well
  21. Jason Moran - From The Dancehall To The Battlefield I saw this performed and it was a moving evening's listening. Sounding good again today (I risk posting this as past discussions of it here were tenacious to say the least..)
  22. I was just looking at the prices on that. Just £50 over here, how do you rate it? It's more of a space rather than cost issue
  23. Jason Moran this morning, 'Artist in Residence' and 'Modernistic'. Enjoyed them both, a lot. I used to buy all his releases but pricing and lack of distribution over here since he's released on his own album has stopped this. A shame but I'm all for him charging what he feels represents value for his artistic endeavours Edit to add: I now see that they're all fully streamable from BC. Not sure that's always been the case. Great news
  24. That's the pressing I have too. Sounds great as you say
