    Monk

I think it put the challenge on a higher plan. Monk started to hone out his music, really polishing the edges, if that's an expression to be used in case of Monk, and looking for (and usually finding) new things in the old stuff to work with. So he took his own high standards as a base and tried to improve upon that.
  16. You missed that I let my ears do much of the talking too. Like I wrote, these disks DO NOT pose a problem for me. Of course I could then stand tall and save the rest of the world. But I'm a weak, spine- & heartless bastard I guess. Much of this seems a big knee-jerk from the music loving communities. All I have read up till now is "hooo, the did something to it, it HAS to be bad for the sound." Well, it isn't. You make it sound as if non-redbook standard CDs are like pissing on the scriptures, I'm not that much of a fundamentalist. I need to have fun in my life too. Of course I let my money do the talking, but I am not any different than any of the other consumers, also here on this board, who keep complaining that CDs are too expensive in general. You may of course look down on me, but I cannot be bothered by that, really. As a poor sod, living in a foreign country, who will not even get a credit card from his bank, ordering from overseas is not as easy as for all you rich people. More things you will not understand I am sure. So now, if YOU have anything of substance to add, let me have it.
  17. did you read my post or is that a gun in your pocket?
  18. you may want to start with the Yusef Lateef thread
  19. If you dislike Sonny so much, why bother even reading a thread devoted to him? And then to make a confusing joke about it... ? just because you were confused, does not mean that all others were confused. I was confused too
