I'm thinking of getting myself this box. I know Bagatellen had a review on this one which sounded like stuff right up my alley at the moment, but does anyone on this board have a copy of this rare box (it's readily available via a German online dealer; I just asked and they're getting a couple in on Thursday) or has anyone heard any cuts from this? I need another push in the right (or wrong) direction. Cheers!

Do you have pictures of her inpluses (or is that inplui)?

Her inpluses have labels? Hell, I never noticed. I'll keep my eyes, err, open next time. Cheers!
-
Hmm, I'm a little SKEPECKITAL... Could you list a few of her INPLUSE albums? You misunderstood something there. INPLUSE IS NOT AN ALBUM! Cheers!

I also have my own ORGANSIST. Hot damn, she's good at it too. Cheers!

Oh, the free concert (1972, I think) on the DVD was attended by over 10.000 people. Wild and great stuff. Peter Przygodda worked a lot with Wim Wenders. Excellent film. Cheers!

Don't we already have a thread with those images somewhere on the board? I think so.

Cary Ginell Isn't that the guy that co-authored the Terry Gibbs autobiography? The guy with a kazillion records and the one heavily into western swing? Or am I getting this mixed up somehow?

Thanks for posting that piece!

Can't we have a winter logo? Pretty please?

Talking about voodoo stuff (which I am, in some ways, into if it does give you some improvement): Before Christmas I had a friend over who had replaced the feet of each and every electronic device in his HiFi chain with some ultra-expensive new ones, sometimes of different types. I think he spent a year on reading up on this stuff. When I showed him my setup, which constists of some 4 slightly cut-up and curved-out wine cork feet which I simply placed beneath my CD player, he cracked up so bad that he had to leave the room for a while. Then we took them to his house. Then we took off his high-tech stuff and put mine underneath. Then I left the room laughing like mad. I think he had tears in his eyes. Top-notch (and very audible) sound-improvement for zilch. Only the wine had actually cost something (a cheap one at that) and I think the cork was for free. Cheers!

Those shots from the hip are just damn funny. You crack me up, totally, You disappear for a few weeks and then blast all over three or four threads, CAPSLOCK and all, and then disappear again. The Lone Ranger of this board. Peace, man.

Quick one (too much work right now) ... The channges are really not that drastic and have built up through the various versions of the films, but some are quite noticeable and, IMHO, get in the way of "suspension of disbelief". Old effects next to CGI, changed voive-overs or dubbing, new scenes altogether, etc. The most hotly-debated one is this one: In "Empire Strikes Back" Anakin's Force ghost is now played by Hayden Christensen instead of Sebastian Shaw. Lucas is apparently trying to bring the old parts into line with the new ones (also by adding to the celebration scenes, etc). Another hotly debated one. The Ewok song has been changed. And, and, and. Like I said: the changes aren't all that major, but my problem is with Lucas constantly tinkering with the films. It's his epic, so he can do with it whatever he likes, but I'm not buying it. It basically comes down to the question of how much the originating artist is allowed to change his original piece of work even after it has become a classic. And we're not talking technical improvements only! Just imagine "Rosebud" would be changed to "Budrose", just because Orson didn't like the word anymore. Brendan Fraser edited in next to Boris Karloff, just to bring it into line with the newer Mummy films, etc. (yeah, I know, different directors). Call it whining and exaggerating if you like, but I don't like this box set and will wait patiently for a newer one which allows me to (largely, since a complete reversal would probably be impossible now ... especially since Lucas absolutely doesn't want to) to watch the original version (if I want to) or the newer one. This is technically possible and has been done countless times (Spielberg's "Close Encounters", for example), so why not here? Cheers! -
Sign up, if you like. Original Star Wars Trilogy You never know if it'll lead to something one day. Cheers!
