  1. Metronome all stars 1956 on Verve. Not even in Andorra?
  2. Coleman Hawkins is now on last chance. The Woody Herman and the Boogie Woogie & blues piano Selects are now running low. That means that soon all Selects will be gone from the Mosaic catalogue.
  3. Set 542 just arrived. Will start listening tonight.
  4. Thanks 54 and counting??
  5. Sold for 75,89. Stil a bargain.
  6. This was discused before I think . Don Byas would certainly deserve a Mosaic. But there are too many labels involved to make it happen. But you're free to dream.
  7. The big mosaic starts with 1932. A complete Okeh, Columbia etc. set would be 4 CD's. If combined with the pre 1932 Universal material ( 3 CD's) that would give a almost complete 1925-1931. There would be a few loose ends left from Blue disc Gennett etc. Off course the Universal material is all ready in a set but there have been 2 discoveries since. Columbia late 40's early fifties would be most welcome. For me the 1956-1962 Columbia period should be done in 4 boxed sets with each 6 LP's as the basis and supplemented with all the extra material.
  8. Nice collection and Dick Tracy art work to boot.
  9. Yes there are sextet tracks with Christian. For reasons I don't understand myself I stoped making notes after listening to the Duke recordings. There is a lot of Goodman and I went for the usual suspects. But I don't remember wich tunes I heard.
  10. In May I spent a couple of hours listening to as much as posible from the Savory collection. I listend to all Ellington items. Going throug the Goodman items choosing those likely to be by the sextet with Charlie Christian. Then I looked for other interesting items with Benny, Lester and Roy Eldridge. Off course there was not time enough to listen to everything. I'm sorry I didn't take more notes of what I listend to. Not enough paper. An afternoon well spend.
  11. I hope they include the alternate takes of Boppin' a riff part 2 and Fat boy part 1 that according to the Tom Lord disco appear on a Mythic Sound CD MS 6002 Early Bud Powell. I've never heard this so I don't know if these are real alternate takes.
  12. Take A is the shortest of the three so I don' t think so.
  13. Just added on the running low list: Thelonious Monk/John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall LP Novus & Columbia Recordings of Henry Threadgill & Air (#247)
  14. I was at the auction. The National Jazz Museum was only the venue for the auction. The lots came from Stephen James Duke's nephew. the piano didn't sell.at the asking price of 300,000 not even when it went down to 50,000. A lot of the contracts went in the region of 300-500. Music manuscripts went mostly for more.
  15. The Charles Tolliver Big Band select now on last chance. When this one is gone there are only two selects left: The Woody Herman 60's set and the Boogie Woogie set. Remco
  16. Just looked and yes they have. 146 Euros
  17. There have been a number of changes on the 'last chance running low page' The Charles Tolliver select that was running low is neither running low nor last chance and still in the catalogue Running low: The Complete Pacific Jazz Joe Pass Quartet Sessions (#207) The Oliver Nelson Verve/Impulse Big Band Sessions (#233) Last Chance: George Wein - Is Alive And Well (MCD-1018) The Complete Clef/Mercury Rec. Of Oscar Peterson Trio (#241) The Complete Arista Recordings of Anthony Braxton (#242) Bud Freeman- Chicago/ Austin High School (MCD-1002) Remco
  18. From the French Jazz Time series: Special Guitares vol. 2. The early volumes were available in Holland later volumes not and I didn't go to France for some years. It wasn't easy to compile a list of what had been issued. Over the years I filled the gaps of CD's missing that interested me. I did not need the whole series. Revival is not my thing. And I have the Hot five in various other formats etc.Two CD's eluded me so far 'Special Guitares vol. 2' and 'Americans in Paris vol. 7'. In all there are 81 issues. 79 in the regular series a sampler covering the first 26 CD's and a 2 CD set. 49 of these are in my collection.
  19. According to the Tom Lord online disco the flip side of Black Swan 2026 is 'The unknown blues' by Fletcher Henderson.
  20. The Woody Herman set is now sold out.
