  1. My local shop Tipitina Mosiac from Mosaic Frog from Frog Paragon Ragtime Orchestra from PRO etc. Amazon.com, .co,uk, .de, ,fr (never used .it or .jp) Dr. Jazz Meeting at Wageningen twice a year. Ebay once in a blue moon. Worldsrecords used to be a favorite. Never let me down, nothing ever got lost in the post. Blue Note in Amsterdam was a favorite as well
  2. Well, that would be about all of them, wouldn't it? Universal and Sony together control all the Brunswicks, Sony has the Victors and the Okehs. What's left? gregmo There's the Durium, Cameo and Plaza recordings. (There may be more.) Someone on this Forum gave a complete listing and said-- IIRC-- that they were controlled by Sony. Unfortunately I've searched but can't find the thread. Cameo and Plaza were two of the labels that amalgamated (with Pathe US) to form ARC, so those are Sony owned. But Durium? I thought it was an Italian fifties label. MG Durium was the company that issued 'Hit Of The Week' records
  3. From the Netherlands: Piet Noordijk Jubilee Concert
  4. I checked the Tom Lord online disco. It mentions LP1007 with the following tracks: She, Indian Summer, Caravan, Hoppin' John. No title of the LP given.

Vol. 7 has Kitchen Man a song not to be missed if you don't mind the double entendre. Catherine Russell shied away from singing the complete lyrics on TV in the Netherlands http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI-7em5eupQ&feature=channel. It has Eddie Lang on guitar.
  8. The Sidney Bechet is now on last chance.

  16. just got an e-mail from Worldsrecords. It's going out of business . This is in the mail about Classics: Another label that we have not offered from many years, Classics Chronological Collections, are available once again. These CDs were first offered in batches of 5 per month over an incredible 15 year period. Over 765 titles were originally produced in France. Now an ambitious project has resurfaced with the intention to bring back as many of the original titles as sales warrant. The plan is to present all releases by an artist at one time (or in the case of an artist like Duke Ellington who had 45 CDs, in several batches). For instance the early artist reissues are by Ethel Waters (7 of the 8 CDs), James P. Johnson (8 titles), The Three Peppers (1 CD), etc.. These CDs are manufactured in the United States.
  17. Make that "Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ" http://www.muziekgebouw.nl/ Did that
  18. I guess they ran out of money. Their site has the following message: The MCN's state subsidies were cut by the Dutch government in an effort to reduce the national budget deficit. Pity, as the MCN used to support young musicians and all kinds of music. The MCN stopped its activities but the Jazz Archive continues independendly http://www.jazzarchief.nl/. Click on the CD button to see wich CD's are available. The site is in Dutch only. The archive is now located in the 'Muziek Gebouw aan 't IJ' (Amsterdam) . It can be visited by appointment.
  19. On most of these, the prices now on Amazon are crazy. Perhaps they didn't actually come out? They are real I got them all. Bought them new when they came out for about €13,- a piece
  20. The entry for Bozy White's Bunny Berigan's Bio/Disco on Norbert Ruecker Jazz Books Shop now reads: White, Bozy: Bunny Berigan bio-discography. 2013. 2 volumes (1400p) + CD-ROM index no price so far. Upon this news I went on to search further and came across this site. To order click on the ISBN. A new email will be opend. The subject may seem strange but I got an email confirming my order. It's gonna look like this:
  21. For me James P. Johnson.
  22. Exiting news: MLB wil stage 3 games either in 2014 or 2015 at Hoofddorp the Netherlands. The ballpark with now 600 seats will be adapted to seat 30.000. No teams are named yet. Hoofddorp is not far from Amstersdam and Schiphol International Airport.
  23. I just got an e-mail from Worldsrecords that indicates that the Classics label will be revived. Not (yet?) with new titels but reissues of previously available Classics. On another note, in our Coming Soon section, we would like to reintroduce the Classics label. Artists include: Teddy Hill, James P. Johnson, Albert Ammons, Al Hibbler, and a couple of other artists. Classics will be releasing more titles over the following months. These coming soon Classics label items can be viewed here.
