  1. Roscoe Mitchell - Four Compositions not sure about the Burton though.
  2. The artwork looks great - I am convinced there's something moving in there, optical illusion or something! Looking forward to this one - way to go Jim, Joe & Randy!
  3. Have a great one, Kevin! (a great beer and a great day!)
  4. I'm not sure what your point is here - can you clarify?
  5. "I got an Ipod, I got an Ipod, you cannot have one..."
  6. I don't care who ya are, that's just funny!
  7. Notice how Al and Stanley never seem to get mentioned outside of guitar magazines? It's like they never really made much of an impact on the Jazz world... Al's impact is in the world of sexy album covers.
  8. ring......ring..... Operator: "911, is this an emergency?" Caller: "yes, there is a chicken on the side of the road." Operator: "Thank you sir, we'll send somebody right out."
  9. "Is that a pipe bomb in your chicken or are you just happy to see me?"
  10. Not yet BF, but looking forward to it. I have Cassandra's "Sing Standards" comp that Verve put out a few years ago, which cherry-picks from Blue Skies and some of her other early releases. I haven't listened to it much though, for whatever reason (probably because it's a comp). I didn't really enjoy some of her pre-BN stuff that I've picked up (the live album & Dance to the Drums), but I should probably try some of the other ones at some point. I think this one will be interesting though, and I like that Jason Moran's on it as well.
  11. Vinny Del Negro (42 yrs old) is going to be the next Bulls coach. Terry Porter (45) is the next Suns coach. Michael Curry (39) is the next Pistons coach. All are generally youngers guys, and all former players. Porter's at least got some prior coaching experience (71-93), but the other 2 are first time coaches.
  12. Blue Note's website shows them: BN's Three Sounds page
  13. Newbury's also had these on sale of late, for equal to or cheaper than that. Check the Evans "Last Waltz" thread & Dolphy Complete Prestige threads for the previous discussion.
  14. Due out tomorrow (6/10), Cassandra's new one, "Loverly". Tracklist: 1. Lover Come Back to Me 2. Black Orpheus 3. Wouldn't It Be Loverly 4. Gone With the Wind 5. Caravan 6. 'til There Was You 7. Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most 8. Arere 9. St. James Infirmary 10. Dust My Broom 11. The Very Thought of You 12. A Sleepin' Bee
  15. I don't think these have been mentioned elsewhere... From musictap: "Blue Note Records goes through their vaults to bring back some jazz music that include the following titles: Fancy Dancer (Bobbi Humphrey); Set Us Free (Reuben Wilson); Heritage (Eddie Henderson); Elegant Soul, and Soul Symphony (The Three Sounds); and Howlin' for Judy (Jeremy Steig). These six reissues are scheduled for July 22."
  16. Per David Gilmour's blog (here), there's a live album coming out in September, "Live at Gdansk". Here's where the fun begins though - it comes as either a 2, 3, 4, or 5 disc set. The straight 2 disc set is the live show itself. 3rd disc is a DVD of the show. 4th disc is a 5.1 surround mix of "On an Island". The 5th disc will be 12 bonus live tracks from the tour. I guess we all get to decide just how much DG we want here.
  17. Ike Quebec - Blue & Sentimental Louis Smith - Here Comes Louis Smith Jutta Hipp - Jutta Hipp with Zoot Sims Jimmy Smith - Live at the Baby Grand, Vol 1 Jimmy Smith - Live at the Baby Grand, Vol 2
  18. Happy Birthday and thanks for your contributions to the board in general!
  19. But...but....but he speaks of the Pompetous of Love!
  20. Spinning "Reflectativity" on Tzadik for the first time tonight. It's a trio recording with Anthony Davis (who was also on the original Reflectativity from '74) and Malachi Favors Magoustous, and sounds great! I think I'm going to have to go back and pick up the Kabell box now.
