  1. Was this ever reissued, or is it still pretty much impossible to find?
  2. The subway gives you almost door to door service. Take the N/R trane... It might give YOU door to door service, but not me (or kh1958 I suspect!)
  3. Definitely not a typical game - I expected a much closer one. Congrats to the Celts fans on the board, and sorry to Noj & crew as well.
  4. Oscar Peterson - Plays Count Basie Oliver Nelson - Fantabulous Stan Getz - Jazz Giants '58 Ella Fitzgerald - Porgy & Bess Paul Desmond - Bridge over Troubled Water Kenny Burrell - A Night at the Village Vanguard Louis Armstong - New Orleans Nights George Benson - I Got a Woman & Some Blues Jimmy Smith - Live at the Village Gate Shirley Bassey - Get the Party Started (yes, she covers the Pink song )
  5. You might check some of Miles' other period recordings - like In a Silent Way, and Jack Johnson. Your comment about wanting something "similar to Miles Davis" is a bit deceptive though, because his style changed so many times over the years, from the 40's through the 80's. Also, "traditional jazz" isn't really all about trombone and vocals.
  6. I think I'd heed Bev's suggestion - that being on a small(ish) island for more than a couple of days may be limiting. Two weeks may seem like a REALLY long time there. Combining the trip with a visit to Dublin (or maybe Liverpool in the other direction!) might make for a more rewarding time overall.
  7. Avishai the trumpeter (left), Anat (middle), & Yuval (right) Cohen:
  8. Two different guys, like Bill Evans the piano player, Bill Evans the sax/flautist, and Bill Evans the sax player. Okay, that's three.
  9. Darth Vader bowling. Apparently "not weird" in Muskegon.
  10. Just be careful he doesn't come and stay with YOU for a month.
  11. How about Texagroovadelica?? Just cuz y'all crashed at Ron's house and raided his fridge doesn't mean he gets to title the disc!!
  12. Be careful Randy - I sold a disc to Ron one time, and this is how he paid me:
  13. I think the Lakers win tonight, and then the Celtics win Game 6 on their home court.
  14. She looks like Helena Bonham Carter! LOL I had a recurring Frankenstein nightmare as a kid. I had seen one of the flicks where the monster is frozen in a block of ice, and is thawed out and reawakened. For some reason at night that big block of ice invariably was in my closet, doing the slow melt until he finally busts out and attacks me. The suspense was awful! I think I must have been about 6 years old maybe. Sorry for the tangent there - now back to your plastic & glue memories...
  15. A few additional comments here and here. And here for record shops.
  16. Yeah but it would have been coherent coming from you! .....
  17. Piffle: Main Entry: Pronunciation: \ˈpi-fəl\ Function: intransitive verb Inflected Form(s): pif·fled; pif·fling Etymology: perhaps blend of piddle and trifle Date: circa 1878 : to talk or act in a trivial, inept, or ineffective way
  18. Paging Rooster Ties, Paging Rooster Ties, please pick up the white courtesy phone.
  19. Bump - I just recently picked up the sequel to that Arcana release, "Arc of the Testimony", and am going through it for the first time. It's mainly a trio of Williams, Laswell, and Nicky Skopelitis, with Pharaoh Sanders, Byard Lancaster, Graham Haynes, & Buckethead on some of the tracks. Pretty intense playing by Tony here! Not really bashing to my ears, but very strong and direct. It's interesting to me how diverse his music was right up until the end, between this and his trio recording on Columbia, "Young at Heart".
  20. That's a nice Celtic green there.
  21. The goal is to BECOME a patron Ron, not DRINK some Patron.
