  1. Whoa - are u guys the Bill and Ted from the future or somethin?
  2. Then why not buy the one on Amazon for $20 that plays perfectly? :rsly:
  3. Well said, Free.
  4. Wherever that is, I'm sure they have cell-phone towers.
  5. Because this thread is in the Forums Discussions folder? But it's 6 pages of discussion about someone thinking about joining in the discussion elsewhere on this board. I just don't get it. Maybe we should invite Pollock to think about considering joining in the discussion that we've been having about considering the concept of starting a band.
  6. That looks familiar!!!
  7. Your Tacos or Your Life! FONTANA, Calif. (AP) — A hunger for carnitas nearly led to some carnage after a Fontana man was robbed of a bag of tacos at gunpoint. Police Sergeant Jeff Decker said the 35-year-old victim had just bought about $20 in tacos from a street-corner stand Sunday night and was bicycling home when the suspect confronted him and said "Give me your tacos." Decker said the suspect grabbed the bag of food, punched the victim in the face and began to flee. When the victim demanded his tacos back, the suspect pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the man and threatened to kill him before running away.
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. Happy Birthday Hans - you are missed here.
  10. Happy Birthday!~
  11. I'm still impressed by the fact that he (not Wynton, the 26 year old dude) was into modal jazz when he was 4 years old. And yet can't explain *why* Wynton is one of the best ever, other than to say that "I know what I like, and I like what I know" (quote courtesy Big Al's great post) P.S. - Peter Gabriel is now stuck in my head Al, thanks alot!
  12. Thanks, I'll take your advice under consideration.
  13. Yeah, but how many of those "thousands" of records you own are actually good? That's what's important. Having said that, I own about 3500 jazz cds. You have alot of learning to do, buddy. Your Bud Powell comment is pretty telling. You do realize you're not talking with a bunch of teenagers in here, right? Because that's how you're coming across.
  14. I'm so ronery.....so ronery and sadry arone....
  15. Instead of re-inventing countless conversations, why not do some searches on both this board and AAJ about Wynton. Everything you've asked has been gone over before. In fact your comments aren't exactly new either, but do exhibit symptoms of someone who's got alot more jazz ahead of him to explore, than he has already done exploring. There's alot of good music out there, check it out before deciding Wynton's one of the best. I don't think you've done enough "consuming" yet. In fact, I think it will take years before you can come to a reasonable conclusion. Most people here probably have 10, 20, 40 more years of listening experience than you do. Stick around and have patience. Oh, and if people give you what you consider to be unkind and unfriendly comments, rise above it and don't respond with mean comments. Just a suggestion - it will help your credibility.
  16. Chuck Finessa. Has a ring to it.
  17. Don't give him any ideas!
  18. Happy Birthday!
  19. In other Swiss news, Flurin's looking for a new car.
  20. Swiss police recover stolen masterpieces CNN) -- Police have recovered two of the four Impressionist paintings stolen earlier this month in a daring museum heist, police in Zurich, Switzerland said Tuesday. The Monet and van Gogh oil paintings were in good condition, police said, and the search continued for the other two -- a Cezanne and a Degas. A parking lot attendant at the Psychiatric University Hospital in Zurich found the paintings Monday afternoon in the back of an unlocked white car, police said. It was not clear how long the car, an Opel Omega with stolen license plates, had been parked on the lot, police said. "The two paintings, worth about 70 million francs($64 million), are in good condition and are still protected by the original glass covering," police said in a statement. Three masked men stole the four paintings in what police called a "spectacular" heist Feb. 11 at the E.G. Buhrle Collection -- among the finest collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist art in the world. One of the men threatened personnel at the museum's front door with a pistol and forced them to the ground, police said, while the other two men went into an exhibition room and stole four oil paintings by Paul Cezanne, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Afterward, the three men loaded the paintings into a white car parked in front of the museum and then drove off, police said. The paintings recovered Monday are Monet's "Poppies near Vetheuil" and van Gogh's "Blossoming Chestnut Branches." Still missing are Degas' "Count Lepic and his Daughters" and Cezanne's "Boy in a Red Vest." The four paintings are worth a total of about $163 million (180 million Swiss francs). A reward of $91,000 (100,00 Swiss francs) has been posted for information leading to the return of the paintings, police said. A Zurich police task force, which includes an art expert, had received tips from around the world, police said. The task force was looking into possible connections with other art thefts inside Switzerland and abroad. The Zurich heist followed the recent theft in Switzerland of two paintings by Pablo Picasso, said Bjoern Quellenberg, a spokesman for the Kunsthaus, another major art museum in Zurich. The director of the Kunsthaus serves on the E.G. Buhrle private art foundation's council, Quellenberg said. In that theft, thieves stole the 1962 "Tete de Cheval" ("Horse's Head") and the 1944 "Verre et Pichet" ("Glass and Pitcher") by Picasso. They were on loan from a German museum and valued at $4.5 million when they were stolen February 6, according to news reports.
  21. +1 Jay has always seemed to be a weak link during late night, IMO. The funniest things about his show are the Jaywalking sketches and the Headlines - neither of which focus on Jay. Conan has settled into a solid show, for the most part. He was trying too hard early on, IMO, but now it seems to flow a bit more naturally.
  22. According to Wikipedia, his monologues are improvised, making them all the more impressive (assuming Wiki's correct). I'd love to see him in a comedy club.
  23. He may be the funniest guy on late night these days.
  24. Well, I'm certainly not comparing this to anything else he's done, but it's a fun album on it's on terms. I don't have that much Lateef, and I'm guessing this one is a left turn of sorts from what he'd done previously.
  25. On a pc, you can run the program "Charmap.exe", and it will provide you with all of the non-English characters.
