Hitler's Record Collection Found
Aggie87 replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I think you misread the timing there. He was 70 when she found the box in 1991 (and told her he only listened to CDs). He died two months ago at the age of 86. -
Yep - the first preseason game was two days ago.

Brady Quinn finally signed with the Browns today. I don't know if he'll have enough camp time to become the starter by Game 1, I kind of doubt it. Plus I think he's a little high on himself still - let him get a few hits from some linebackers, and he'll settle down quick. Personally I'm hoping the Browns have a bad season, so the 1st rounder they gave the Cowboys for next year ends up being a top 2-3 pick No offense, SS! edit - i guess he technically hasn't signed, but has agreed to terms.

I've heard this cited as a defense of Bonds' performance. If the performance-enhancing supplements were this rampant, it stands to reason that many of the pitchers he was facing who were also cranked up on something. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's not really fair to give one guy hell and not shell it out to everyone else too. I agree it's not fair and that all users should be cast into the Pit of Despair, but Bonds is in THE limelight because he is about to break the single most renowned sports record in the country.

New PT music! Porcupine Tree release a new EP in September called "Nil Recurring". It will feature 4 tracks (just under 30 minutes of music) that were written during the Fear of a Blank Planet sessions, including the title track featuring Robert Fripp on guitar, and "Cheating the Polygraph", which was premiered on the 2006 tour, but subsequently left off the Fear of a Blank Planet album. More news on availability of the EP soon. edit - I'm wondering if the music on this EP will also be the additional tracks that are supposedly coming with the DVD-A of Fear, due out before too long as well. Gonna need both.

I haven't joined the Residents thing. It's not clear enough to me what it is or what it offers, besides apparently giving discounts on concert tickets. I'm not sure that's enough for me to justify joining now. If there are other incentives or things worth considering, I'll relook it. If there are eventual exclusive cd releases or something like that, I'll be right there for sure! I'm hoping to see them when they hit Houston (3 hrs away), Matthew. That's the closest show for me. And it's a Saturday night, so that makes the trip up and back easier. I'll be curious to see the set list on this leg too - I'm hoping it's changed up a bit from the previous leg. I don't really care to see the entire Fear album performed in sequence, though Anesthetize would still be great (and I'm sure it will be performed either way). Are you going to get to any of the shows this time around?

But....but....you've succumbed to the media's witch hunt!

Seahawks also let S Ken Hamlin walk, who was picked up by the Cowboys. I don't know if that's good or not for the Seahawks - they have had some public words (see here) about him, to the effect that Trufant wasn't as effective because he was also having to do Hamlin's job. I think it's good for the Cowboys though, because he's an upgrade at the position from the platoon of Keith Davis and Pat Watkins. Watkins may still be the Boys' future safety, but needs more time to develop.

Happy Birthday Shawn!

That picture was taken AT the game last night. If you actually WATCHED the game on ESPN2, you would have seen the asterisks many times, as they were shown over and over.

You're defeating your own argument. If Selig actually was happy about this, he wouldn't have said the above PREPARED comments at all. He would have simply said congratulations and not used the moment to bring up the steroid controversy.

Dammit, I was JUST about to call my new band this...

Makes me think of the Califonia Raisins. You aren't going to cover "Head it through the Grapevine" are you? -

An excerpt from CNN's current article on the HR:
-
These are the fans IN Petco Park tonight: Yep, the ENTIRE stadium was cheering for him. You go on hallucinating, Goodspeak.

Happy for you Goodspeak. Sad day for baseball.

Interesting someone can put $500 in their pockets to try to get backstage, but can't make good on a $15 (if that much) trade with a fellow board member.
-
And the fans get caught in the middle and don't get to see the games they show exclusively. edit - why can't we pay the cable companies like $1/month for the channels we want, instead of having to pay for packages where half the channels aren't interesting or worthwhile. I'd pay $20/month for 20 channels of my choosing (obviously not including the HBO's and other premium channels). CNN, Headline News, ESPN, ESPNews, ESPN 2, Discovery, A&E, History Channel, Fox Sports, NFL Network, and a few for my kids. That would be fine with me.

Hall of Fame Game (Steelers v. Saints) is on Sunday evening, 8 pm ET. Unfortunately it's on the NFL Network, which isn't available here. I see no point in that network having exclusive game rights, if they don't show on anyone's cable networks.

Sorry to hear that too. I hope a donor match appears somehow for your wife. It probably goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway - I admire how you've supported and stood by her throughout all of this. I'm sure that's made a positive difference for her

Microsoft Office - Do clone programs work?
Aggie87 replied to Harold_Z's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Check out OpenOffice. It's 100% compatible with Microsoft Office, and it's free (and legit). It's made by Sun Microsystems, and can be found at openoffice.org. -
What is your favourite Mosaic for listening pleasure

Did you ever finish your A-Z thing? -
It must be something like somethinganother Simic. Shouldn't you capitalize the S? Or is that a trendy spelling?
