  1. The weather's been nice here, but due to the heavy rains "upstream" from us, they are having to release water from the lakes that are our main water supply here. So the rivers here continue to flood, and anyone living near the rivers have problems. We are also supposed to be boiling our water prior to drinking it, in order to avoid ecoli and other fun stuff.
  2. 've only had a chance to listen to a portion of this, but here are a few comments. These are just initial, impulse reactions. I'll enjoy listening through the rest of this. Nice compilation, Gokhan! 1. The pianist has a nice, percussive feel to his/her playing, complemented by the drums. The track seemed short, but a nice introduction. 2. I don't know who this is, but I'm not sure I care for it. Maybe in the context of the album it's from it would sound better to me. The lyrics seemed too nonsensical to me. Then again, I listen to alot of progressive rock, which has more than it's share of nonsensical lyrics. 3. This one has a nice, swinging groove, but is obviously too short. A nice palate cleanser I suppose. 4. I like this one. It's got a noirish feel to it that is appealing. 5. The pianist has an impressive dual hand technique, and the music is fast. 6. Exotica - Martin Denny or something? I don't have much in this area, so no clue. 7. I like the circus feel to this music. It reminds me of that Noel Akchote W&W release. 8. This one has a nice, patient feel to it, like they're searching for something, but content with letting it come to them in it's own time. (started getting interrupted by other household needs about this time) 9. Sleepy. 10. Busy. 11. This is a nice performance, in the pocket. It feels like Charlap in a way, or someone like that. Or maybe it's too lively for him. 12. Busy. 13. Nice. 14. I like this combination of trumpet and strings.
  3. In Germany this is done regularly. There are regular, advertised nights that you are allowed to put your stuff out on the street, and it's free to anyone who wants it. I forget the German name for it (we called it "junking"). It's a competitive sport for alot of people.
  4. I don't think Misha Mengelberg's been mentioned, but I like the little I've heard from him.
  5. And I can't wait to see a listing of playoff games whoever it was was assigned to. Heh heh heh, in this youtube age we live in, this could be fun. How about the whole Spurs/Suns series?

    Prince

Is it a free download somewhere? Normally I wouldn't expect that, but since it's being given away free in the U.K, figured it was worth asking.
  7. Prior discussion about this album here ...

    Rubber Soul?

"I've Just Seen A Face" is on the current cd version of "Help!", I bought all of the UK versions on cd a few years back and (if I'm not mistaken) pretty much everything is included in those (plus the 2 "Past Masters" volumes for singles), I never had any emotional attachment to the original sequencing because I was born in 1971 and just figured I'd go for those rather than the Beatles Capitol box sets. Isn't one of those discs the one where they have bloody meat and chewed up baby dolls all over them? Not Rubber Soul, that was the original and quickly withdrawn cover of Revolver, their next album. Actually it was the original cover for Yesterday and Today: The replacement cover (which was glued on top of the original butcher image for some number of copies, which had people steaming them off): The original image was later released inside the gatefold of the "Rarities" LP.
  9. Happy Birthday Kenny, and thanks for being a part of this board!
  10. Yay is right! And it's being discussed in the On the Corner Box thread, as well.
  11. We've had this discussion on this board before - there's seedless watermelon out there and available already, google it...
  12. That's better than a relative named Wednesday: ...but not as good as a Tuesday: ...or a Monday:
  13. I didn't hear him... I was busy racing away on my brother's camel.
  14. Happy Birthday! edit - Here's a birthday brain teaser for you: An Arab sheikh tells his two sons to race their camels to a distant city to see who will inherit his fortune. The one whose camel is slower will win. The brothers, after wandering aimlessly for days, ask a wise man for advice. After hearing the advice they jump on the camels and race as fast as they can to the city. What does the wise man say?
  15. Good point, but if they can do Carpet Crawlers and I Know What I Like, they shouldn't have a problem with that one. Well, I have a problem with it. It's not very good. Ok, how about The Knife or something, then?
  16. "Your Own Special Way" was actually recorded by the quartet (w/Hackett), though it obviously fits stylistically with the later material. Guy Good point, but if they can do Carpet Crawlers and I Know What I Like, they shouldn't have a problem with that one. And like you say, it fits their style a little.
  17. Given the line up, I'd can 5 songs (No Son of Mine, Land of Confusion, Hold on My Heart, Throwing it all away, and Invisible Touch), and include 5 othesr (Your Own Special Way, Misunderstanding, Paperlate, No Reply at All, and Abacab), for what I'd call the best set list for the three man lineup: Behind The Lines / Duke’s End Turn It On Again Your Own Special Way Misunderstanding In The Cage / The Cinema Show / Duke’s Travels Afterglow Paperlate Home By The Sea Follow You Follow Me Firth Of Fifth / I Know What I Like Mama Ripples No Reply At All Domino Drum Duet Los Endos Tonight Tonight Tonight (intro) Abacab I Can’t Dance The Carpet Crawlers

  23. Bragging like that deserves some pictures!
  24. While at my mother's house this past week, I uncovered a cassette copy of "Killer Joe", which I think is Jimmy Osmond's first album. And yes, it included that UK #1 smash hit, "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool". What bothers me is that it was probably mine. The only thing I can say in my defense is that I'm quite certain it was purchased for me, not BY me.
  25. Happy Birthday, EKE!
