Maybe it was the best head they ever had. Wouldn't you applaud too?

Talmor's work on co-led Steve Swallow date "L'Histoire du Clochard" is very nice, both playing and arranging (they re-did several Swallow compositions).

Have a great one, Guy!

Favorite pizza places (past, present)
Aggie87 replied to jazzbo's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
My favorites overall were visiting the authentic mom & pop places that were neighborhood restaurants in Stuttgart. There are alot of Italian immigrants in Germany that brought the good stuff with them. I had Pizzeria Due in Chicago years ago, and remember that being delicious. Didn't know there was an Pizzeria Uno in Austin, may have to check that out some time. In college we had a couple of joints that were popular - The Flying Tomato, and Double Dave's. I think these are more nostalgic for me than they were good pizza. Double Dave's had a good selection of imported beer, and after you drank so many, you earned t-shirts, mugs, and your name on a plaque. I think mine's still up there, 20 odd years later. -
Happy Late B-Day, Randy!

I hope she's alright. Thanks - I saw her this evening finally, and she has a burn mark that's a little larger than a quarter. She said the other kid's sparkler accidentally hit her while he was swinging it or something and it burned (or burned through) her clothes to her skin. I think she'll be ok, but I don't know if it's something that's going to scar or not. I'm still bothered by the comment earlier about "motherfuckers" getting what they deserve. She's only 9, but had this happened 5 years down the line, she'd be a teenager, and would deserve it, I guess.

My daughter got burned on her stomach by a sparkler on the 4th....being waved by another kid. I haven't seen it yet, but that couldn't have felt real good. edit - hope that doesn't make Dan laugh uproariously.

I don't think Jim has set that back up again, yet. -
...from this website: That's sad, if she was having financial difficulties that severely, while her son is a multi-millionaire. Maybe they're estranged?

Jason Witten's mother accused of theft ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) -- The mother of Dallas Cowboys' tight end Jason Witten was arrested today in Elizabethton on charges of stealing about 55-hundred dollars from a bank account that was not hers. Police said 48-year-old Kimberly Witten made 25 withdrawals from the Carter County Bank account of Marie McQueen beginning last November. Investigators quoted Witten as saying she obtained McQueen's bank account information from a statement mistakenly delivered to her mailbox. Witten was released from jail on her own recognizance pending a July 31st General Sessions court date on 25 counts of forgery and theft. Jason Witten did not return a phone call seeking comment left with his agent, Jimmy Sexton of Memphis. Witten played collegiately at Tennessee. PS - who writes "55-hundred dollars"??

Happy Birthday, Barak!! -
I agree with your assessment of this music being a lark, Alexander, and just something those 5 guys did for fun. I'm glad they released it and we got to enjoy it. I essentially made some of the same statements in post 16 as you have. If Clem doesn't like this music, that's fine with me. Life's short, enjoy and appreciate whatever it is that hits you just right. Thanks for offering these comments, Alexander. This is good general advice that can be taken to heart for alot of people, regarding alot of topics. edited to improve the tone of the post.

Pistons re-signed Billups for $60M. That's far better use of money, in my opinion. And looks like the Sonics have hired PJ Carlesimo (Sprewell's chokee) away from the Spurs as their head coach.

10" of rain yesterday, and it's currently coming down hard too. We're lucky we haven't had it as bad as other parts of Texas though.

Matthew - if you like the Rolling Stones, you might want to start nabbing the ABKCO SACD hybrids that are out there. They're the ones from 2002, in the digipaks. They are out of print now, and getting more difficult to find. The ABKCO titles have since been reissued in jewel cases, and advertise that they're DSD remastered, but they're not hybrid SACD's. Also, since your player is universal, I'd recommend you pick up the Porcupine Tree stuff that's out there, if you don't already have it. Stupid Dream, In Absentia, Deadwing, and the upcoming Fear of a Blank Planet DVD-A's. And the Lightbulb Sun DVD-A is due out sometime in the next 12 months too still.

I like the first album - I think if you look at it as a bunch of guys just sitting around having fun and making casual, small music, and not having high expectations because of who's actually ON the album, it's a fun listen. It's not a high watermark in anyone's career, but that's fine. The second album doesn't do much for me. The fun they were clearly (to me) having on the first one is missing here, and it's a bit forced sounding. That may be due to Orbison's passing, or the pressure to match the first album, or maybe both.

Lakers just spent $30M ($30M!!!) to re-sign Luke Walton. I don't think he's worth that.

I liked the Hawk's draft with Al Horford and Acie Law. I don't know much about the rest of their current team, but I think those two guys will be good players for them to build around.
