  1. I haven't seen the 2nd one out yet, how is it compared to the first with Osby? I love that one - in fact it IS probably my favorite Hunter album. I still have the Natty Dread cd and the Candyman one, but rarely pull them out. They are my favorites of his BN stuff at any rate. I'd bet he'd be fascinating to see live (or on the DVD), but I've grown a little tired of the "thin" sound of most of his discs. Not enough going on for me in general.
  2. One of my local stores has the 3 disc Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar box. Anybody have all three discs in this series? I've picked it up a few times and put it back down, just need to be pushed over the edge and buy the damn thing...
  3. There may be nothing ILLEGAL about that, under EU copyright law. However, I'd say there's something unethical, or at the very least immoral about it. The three original LPs that are the subject of this thread do not meet the 50 yr threshold (or whatever it is) under EU law, and are therefore not public domain in Europe.
  4. Any idea whether this has made it to CD? I'd be curious to hear this. It's listed as a Solal date on AMG. Sco also played on Lee Konitz' "Rhapsody II", but I'm not sure what else they've been on together. And my enthusiasm for "all things Scofield" has slowed down quite a bit, but I still really enjoy alot of his earlier BN and pre-BN work. This is the type of thing I'm looking for from him these days.
  5. A couple more just showed up apparently: Al Cohn - The Al Cohn Quintet (warning: w/Bob Brookmeyer!) Dizzy Gillespie - Sittin' In
  6. Not much happening at yourmusic lately, but a couple of new titles that I noticed: Harry Edison - Sweets Joe Newman Quintet - at Count Basie's
  7. It's missing a major ingredient....
  8. Definitely not Anderson. But he could sing "Video Killed the Radio Star" with the best of them! That looks like it might be a fun nostalgia type show. I still enjoy the Drama album quite a bit. And Wakeman claims he'll no longer be touring after this year, I believe. So it's entirely possible that Geoff Downes could end up being the Yes keyboardist again.
  9. I have never heard any of Deep's music, but I do recall how rudely he treated Bertrand.
  10. I don't see a problem with buying used cds, personally. They were rightfully purchased, originally, and royalties were paid. The only thing that has happened is that the ownership has changed hands, and in theory some middleman/men (used cd store, seller on ebay, etc) have made a buck or two in the process. But the creators got the fees they were entitled to. Same logic as buying a used car. The car company got their money on the original sale. Why would they be upset if people purchase used cars - is it money lost to them because the used purchaser isn't buying a new car??
  11. I don't copy mine either. I trade/sell things i don't care to keep, or things that i somehow end up with duplicates of. No cdr-ing here. In fact, i could count my cdrs on one hand i think.
  12. I agree with Chris' sentiment. Trading is one thing, but when you keep a CDR of the title after passing on ownership, that's effectively creating an extra copy of the music for which the artist gets no income.
  13. Anyone looking for a nice Kinks compilation? I found this one a while back, and think it fits the bill nicely: Track Listings Disc: 1 1. You Really Got Me 2. All Day and All of the Night 3. Waterloo Sunset 12. Death of a Clown 13. Autumn Almanac 14. Susannah's Still Alive 15. Wonderboy 16. Days 17. Plastic Man 18. Victoria 19. Lola 20. Apeman 21. Supersonic Rocket Ship 22. Better Ship 23. Come Dancing 24. Don't Forget to Dance Disc: 2 1. David Watts 2. Stop Your Sobbing 3. Dandy 4. Mr. Pleasant 5. I Gotta Move 6. Who'll Be the Next in Line 7. I Need You 8. 15. ...all is well. I'm told Jeff is merely gearing up for the start of NFL training camp, which is about 3 weeks away.
  16. Klaatu barada nikto!
  17. Ok, which one is Chris?
  18. Feliz Cumpleanos!!!! (i hope you're 6, because i got this image at a discount, since there are only 5 strawberries on it)
  19. Che with an attitude!!!
  20. FYI - that CD is in the clearance section of BMG at the moment too, if you're a member. $2.99 plus s/h. Works out to just about the same as yourmusic.com...
  21. I've only got three Vandermark discs so far, but enjoy them all: V5 - Simpatico Sound in Action Trio - Design in Time Spaceways Inc. - Thirteen Cosmic Standards He's a guy I'll certainly pick up discs from when I stumble across them.
  22. I'm partial to the local beers in Stuttgart. Dinkel Acker has a nice Marzen, though the normal pilsners taste plenty good (in the 1 Liter Mass size, of course!) at the Canstatter Volksfest: Also, I haven't had a bad Czech beer yet - Gambrinus and Lobkowicz are both pretty tasty.
