  1. Top notch Honda/Acura maintenance facility over in the distance there.... :rsmile:
  2. Bjork at Yourmusic.com edit: I'm guessing you missed the umlaut B-)
  3. Did the invoice that came with the box show Newk's Time as being included as well? If so, then they messed up when packaging it. If it doesn't show on the invoice, then it should be on its way separately. On my most recent shipment a disc was missing, and it showed on the invoice as being included in that shipment. So I went to their website, let them know, and they quickly responded and said the disc was being sent to me. This was only about 2 days ago, so hopefully it will show up on Mon/Tues. But they responded quickly and seemed very eager to resolve their mistake...
  4. Okay, so I've finally broken down and purchased Scofield's "Bar Talk" album on vinyl, after coming to the realization that I'm just not likely going to ever find this on CD. Got it for a buy-it-now price of $5.99 on ebay (VG+ condition, hopefully), so it's not a bad deal all the way around. That was the last Sco leader date that I needed to pick up, though I still have quite a ways to go with the sideman stuff. And I know with my luck now that I've purchased it, that will pretty much guarantee it gets reissued within the next month...
  5. Fish with human faces aren't that uncommon...
  6. Don't forget the expanded version of the Allman Brother's "Live at Fillmore East"!! The expanded version of Jimmy Cliff's "The Harder They Come" soundtrack is very good as well, even though the second disc isn't really soundtrack songs, but classic tracks from that era...
  7. Up, as it's been a while for this thread to see the light of day... In case anyone is interested both King Crimson's "Power to Believe" and Porcupine Tree's "In Absentia" are available at Yourmusic.com for the unbelievable low price of $4.99. Run, don't walk.....
  8. Based on this, is it safe to assume that the mastering on the "Bags & Trane" tracks in the Atlantic box is better than that on the Atlantic CD release?
  9. Ok, I have all seven of the Coltrane Atlantic CDs, in their Rhino incarnations - some in the cardboard sleeves and some in the regular jewel boxes. I also have the regular Atlantic "Bags & Trane" disc, which for some reason or another was not included in the Rhino series, and vexes me. I vaguely remember asking this question a long time ago on the BNBB, but does the Heavyweight Champion box have the same remastering as the Rhino discs? I keep pulling up yourmusic.com and staring at this box, which is available there for $34.93, on the $4.99 plan. If the remastering is the same as the Rhinos, I may spring for this, primarily to get the "Bags & Trane" in equivalent sound (plus, I'm a sucker for a nice box). I think I could recoup my purchase cost in selling individual cds that I already own, so the cost isn't really my concern. If the sound on the box isn't the same as the Rhinos, I'll stick with what I have and still be VERY satisfied with this music...
  10. I mentioned this in this thread. The Wolff photos are great, and it's nice to see so many pages dedicated to classic BN jazz in a mainstream mag.
  11. "Does this look infected to you?"
  12. for an extra 10% off, code L5PM4...
  13. Well my shipment of 7 January arrived today, so they are consistently coming in, fairly quickly too. I'm more impressed by the speed of service with YourMusic that with BMG. Perhaps they have a smaller customer base (for the time being), so it's easier to ship orders more quickly. However, one of my discs wasn't in the shipment, even though it was listed on the invoice as being enclosed. Time to shoot off an email and see how quickly they respond. It looks like their order accuracy may be on par with BMG....
  14. I also ordered 7 double-disc sets (two of which included DVDs also), for $9.99 apiece, last week. Each title was listed as being on backorder up until Monday, at which point there status had changed to state "shipped on 7 Jan 05". My initial queue item (Larry Young's Of Love & Peace) showed as being shipped on 6 Jan, and arrived today. So 4 business days to arrive, which seems quite a bit quicker than what BMG itself does for me. So hopefully my big shipment arrives tomorrow... Now I'm thinking that the backorder status is just the status they use instead of "PROCESSING" or something, until the order actually ships.
  15. VAN GOGH COLANDER
  16. IT WAS COOL WHEN ARIC WAS MASQUERADING AS WARNE'S WORLD, A Ph.D OR M.D. FROM ENGLAND (OR WAS IT WALES?) FOR A TIME. BIG WARNE MARSH AND NATURALLY HANK FAN, WHO EVEN MADE A FEW ATTEMPTS AT SOUNDING "BRITISH" CULTURALLY, TO COMIC EFFECT. PERHAPS HIS ATTRACTION TO MS. SPENCER STEMS FROM THIS RELATIVELY BRIEF EPISODE IN HIS ONGOING TRAVAILS.
  17. Tracks related, so I thought I'd bump this one back up. If anyone's interested, there is an article, amounting to 3/4 page or so, about Rudy Van Gelder in the current issue of Tracks (with Lennon on the cover). It also includes 8 pages of Francis Wolff photographs! For a mainstream music mag, I like Tracks, and it's not expensive, $3.99, and includes a compilation CD of recently released artists. The current CD includes songs from North Mississippi Allstars, Aimee Mann, Jason Moran, & Camper Van Beethoven... edit - the Moran track is "Jump Up" from his next album, "Same Mother"...
  18. Genuine Corpus Christi Snow Okay - I'm in Corpus Christi, but I didn't think of this. Could have made alot of jazz purchases with this windfall
  19. Looks like I'm gonna be in Reno during the first week in February for a conference. Never been before, so I was wondering if anyone here can recommend any jazz shopping opportunities there for me. Or if there are any events going on that might be of interest, I'd like to hear about that too... Of course, might have to try my luck at the Blackjack tables and the one-armed bandits as well B-) Thanks, Erik
  20. Can anybody help explain this one to me? Is it considered a Dizzy album proper? Is it a soundtrack of sorts? Is it worth seeking out?
  21. Rest In Peace, Ken. Jim - Perhaps you can send a copy of this whole thread to Elizabeth from all of us, rather than us bombarding their family with numerous emails... (?)
  22. Snow in South Texas! Corpus Christi received 5" of snow on Christmas Eve, for an all time record. It snows here so infrequently that the previous record was in 1897. Some people were using surfboards, ironing boards (and anything else flat) to go sledding, since you rarely ever see an actual sled here...
  23. May I have this dance?
