Just got sent some computer-related haikus B-) A file that big? It might be very useful. But now it is gone. The Web site you seek Can not be located but Countless more exist. Chaos reigns within. Reflect, repent, and reboot. Order shall return. ABORTED effort: Close all that you have worked on. You ask far too much. Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death. No one hears your screams. Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working. Windows is like that. First snow, then silence. This thousand dollar screen dies So beautifully. With searching comes loss And the presence of absence: "My Novel" not found. The Tao that is seen Is not the true Tao-until You bring fresh toner. Stay the patient course. Of little worth is your ire. The network is down. A crash reduces Your expensive computer To a simple stone. Three things are certain: Death, taxes, and lost data. Guess which has occurred. You step in the stream, But the water has moved on. This page is not here. Out of memory. We wish to hold the whole sky, But we never will. Having been erased, The document you're seeking Must now be retyped. Serious error. All shortcuts have disappeared. Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

I can legitimately tell you it will be money well spent, Jazz Kat.

Free For All - If you haven't already joined, consider getting into yourmusic.com. It's run by BMG, so the same inventory, which can be limiting. But everything in there is $5.99 all the time, with free shipping & handling. Some of us got in when they had a special $4.99 deal, but that's no longer available, as far as I know. The only major difference is that you have to set up a queue of items that you want, and each month they take the top one from your list and send it to you (and bill your credit card). So make sure there is always something in your queue, because you'll get billed monthly regardless. But other than that, you can order as much as you want at that price, all the time. I'm still in BMG, but haven't been ordering from them, mainly using them for their searches, which seem to be a little better than yourmusic.com's.

Received my DGM package today. The autographs, sort of to my surprise, are from all 6 members who played on B'Boom. They aren't on the cd booklet or the back insert, but on a card that was inserted in the package. Either way it's cool, though I would have preferred them to be on the front of the booklet. Fripp's autograph (above Gunn's) is probably the least distinctive (and not as nice as 7/4's, but at least I can say I have it now.

Just a heads up for anyone who might be considering purchasing "Live in the Classic City" from either yourmusic.com or BMG. I picked it up from yourmusic, and discovered that disc 2 from my set was defective. Wouldn't even play the last half or so. I emailed yourmusic, who responded immediately, and sent me a replacement set, which arrived on Friday. They also said they'd send me a postage-paid label or something, in order to return the original set. Cool and easy to do, I'm thinking. But the replacement set has the same exact problem as the original. Just sent out another email to them to see where to go from here. So apparently yourmusic (& BMG I assume since they apparently pull from the same stock) has a defective batch or something. Either way, I liked what I DID hear on this set, and need to pick it up somehow...

Is that Lon ("Chazzbo" ) that bid $205??? edit - and I don't understand something...why was the first guy upping his bid against himself? And why does bidding jump from $500 to $2000 in one step?? Am I missing something?

Bobby Hutcherson - Now followed by Wilco - A Ghost is Born edit: corrected Booby's misspelled name B-)

He agreed to it. I wouldn't feel bad. I give friends really good deals anyway. Heck, I've given more guitars away than most people will ever own. I'm sure he was happy that you got the bass. He was and I've given away a few myself. WTF... Okay, to be fair, if either of you decide to give another away, it's gotta go in "Pay It Forward". I'll be monitoring that VERRRY closely...

Thanks Greg. Already got an email from DGM stating my order would ship today. And also, as mentioned earlier in this thread by take5, Porcupine Tree's new release, "Deadwing", is due out on 28 March in Europe, and 19 April in the U.S. Mikael Akerfeldt and Adrian Belew both guest, and at least the promo copies (and apparently the U.S. version) have a hidden track, which is a re-recording of "Shesmovedon" from Lightbulb Sun. Can't wait for this one!!

Maybe Aric can call Steve Perry to find out whether there are any deep stories behind the writing of "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" or "Any Way You Want It"... B-) -
Not sure I know any of his music, but he was seemingly a "pure country" guy, instead of the gimmicky stuff that's pushed these days... ****************************** Country Singer Chris LeDoux Dies Wednesday, March 09, 2005 Associated Press CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Chris LeDoux, a world champion bareback rider who parlayed songs about cowboys he knew on the rodeo circuit into a successful country music career, died Wednesday from complications of liver cancer. He was 56. LeDoux died Wednesday morning in Casper, according to Judy McDonough, spokeswoman for Capitol Nashville, LeDoux's recording company. He had checked into Wyoming Medical Center earlier this week following complications from his cancer and was with family and friends at the time of his death. "All of us at Capitol Records and EMI Music are saddened at the passing of Chris," said Capitol Nashville President and CEO Mike Dungan. "In a world of egos and soundalikes, he was a unique artist and a wonderful man. We have always been proud to represent his music, and honored to call him our friend." LeDoux, known little outside the rodeo circuit until country superstar Garth Brooks paid tribute to him in a song, described his music as a combination of "Western soul, sagebrush blues, cowboy folk and rodeo rock 'n' roll." He and Brooks teamed up for the Top 10 hit, "Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy" in 1992. In November, LeDoux canceled several tour dates while undergoing treatment for cancer of the bile duct. He had undergone a liver transplant in 2000 after a lengthy illness. LeDoux (pronounced luh-DOO) had been playing guitar and harmonica and writing songs since his teens, and he used his musical skills to help pay for his rodeo entry fees. He recorded songs about cowboys, the ups and downs of the rodeo circuit and his adopted home of Wyoming. In 1976, he became the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association's world bareback champion. By 1989, LeDoux had released 22 albums. They were mostly cassettes produced by his parents, which he sold at concerts and rodeos. He had a loyal, if limited, fan base. But that all changed that year when Brooks had a hit with "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)," which included the line: "A worn-out tape of Chris LeDoux, lonely women and bad booze/seem to be the only friends I've left at all." The song came at a time when LeDoux's career was sputtering with an independent label and no marketing. "And here he comes along and mentions the worn-out tapes in his song," LeDoux said of Brooks in an interview with The Associated Press in 2001. "To me, Garth, he's kind of like my guardian angel. It's like every time I need some help, he's there." LeDoux eventually signed with Brooks' record label, Capitol. In 2003, he released the album "Horsepower" and celebrated career sales of more than 5 million albums.

....he didn't punch you in the face for asking for that? B-) Seriously, that's a great pic, and great autograph as well. I have the League of Crafty Guitarists disc, and really enjoy it...and the spinoff group, California Guitar Trio. I should explore his solo + Fripp/Eno work a bit. Any good places to start? edit - I meant I have the RF String Quintet disc, not the League...

Inspired by the Crimson chat in the guitar thread, I finally buckled down and ordered the KC "ElektriK" CD from the DGM website. Really looking forward to this - I spun Power to Believe again the other day, and still love it... I also ordered an autographed copy of "B'Boom", which is a live recording of the 6 man lineup from 1994. I'm very curious as to which autographs are actually on this disc, given Fripp's aversion to signing, and the fact that Bruford is no longer in the band (nor is Gunn now), and Levin is back in. This is my first order from DGM, are they pretty quick to ship?
-
I saw KC in Germany on the Power to Believe tour, and met Belew, Gunn, & Mastellotto after the show, shook their hands, got their autographs etc. They were all very friendly and approachable. They all signed my PtB cd booklet, and Adrian also signed my Discipline. Fripp was nowhere to be seen, as expected. Do you have a scan of the Fripp autograph, 7/4?

Saw them in 1980/81 in Frankfurt, with the original singer (DiAnno). It was a great show, before the theatrical stuff got so much heavier. They lost me after Number of the Beast, but I'll say Killers is my favorite of theirs.

hehehe, thief B-) for the record, the proper response to this is: edit - i know that looks odd, but that is the best i could do to extract it from a locked thread...

Got my Farlow set in today's mail, a week after it was shipped. Still impressed with this deal!

I picked up a promo copy a couple of weeks ago, and really like it! Rosenwinkel, Mehldau, Redman, Larry Grenadier, and either Jeff Ballard or Ali Jackson. They are really cohesive, as sal alludes to. Well worth picking up. I've like all the KR that I've heard so far!

I would hope if they are students in YOUR class, this would not be allowed to go right over their heads!!! -

Don't tell me ya need a topic, addressee, or anything else relevant. We will expect to see a draft within the next couple of hours... AN OPEN LETTER TO BLUE NOTE AN OPEN LETTER TO BLUE NOTE PART TWO

'The Pacifier' Tops North American Box Office
Aggie87 replied to a topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Just curious, do you hate all of us here at Organissimo, or all the people who went to see "The Pacifier", or all of North America?
