  1. And not even a useful one. And what's the deal with Romo anyway? First he's hot, then he's not. What gives? A couple of things, in my opinion: A. He's always been a wildcatter (like Jerry Jones) who thrives while improvising. Sometimes that works well, sometimes not so well. B. His offensive line this year is the worst in the NFL. Because of that there's no run game, and there's not much time for him to get passes off cleanly all the time. He got sacked 7 times yesterday, which weren't his fault. C. His current crop of WRs just aren't that good: Dez Bryant had a big game yesterday, but can't be relied on to be where he's supposed to be on a route, ever. Miles Austin is breaking down physically too much these days. Ogletree was a flash in the pan, and can't be relied on either, like Bryant. Witten tryed to play too soon, after lacerating his spleen in the preseason. He wasn't healthy, and couldn't catch the ball. He's finally rounded into shape, but he's not that fast, and doesn't do anything other than go down once he makes the catch these days. D. Jason Garrett makes some strange, very predictable play calls. Not head coach material, let alone offensive coordinator. Add that all up and it leads to Romo's interceptions, scrambling, sacks, etc.
  2. Dallas' offensive line absolutely stinks. They can't support the run nor can they pass block. And Jerry Jones is an idiot. That is all.
  3. I think the Spurs are a model franchise, perfectly put together and run - particularly for a small market. Will be interesting to see how they evolve once Duncan and Ginobili retire. I don't think that's too far off. The Spurs started in 1973, so they're not a very old franchise, relatively speaking. They have been beloved in San Antonio from Day 1, though, back when they had James Silas and The Iceman, George Gervin, and later Artis Gilmore. They had ups and downs, until drafting David Robinson in 1987, who still had 2 yrs on his Navy commitment so didn't actually play til '89. In 1989 they drafted Sean Elliott, got a new coach in Larry Brown, and traded for Terry Cummings (and I think Paul Pressey about the same time). That's when they suddenly became a force in the NBA, and really haven't stopped since, for 22 years now. But for me the two flagship franchises in the NBA are the Lakers and the Celtics, who both far and away have more championships than any other individual team. Not the Knicks, regardless of their financial success or whatnot.
  4. Can we (at the individual level) remove the menu on the left? I don't need it as long as a "View New Content" button remains available, so really it just takes up space and makes the thread content have to fit in a smaller space.
  5. Curiosity got the best of me - St. Arnold Divine Reserve tonight:
  6. late happy birthday!
  7. All time record 13' storm surge in Battery Park, NY, Aloc. But you're right, people should have gone to work, darnit. And here is Atlantic City earlier today, with parts of the Boardwalk gone. The worst is yet to come still.
  8. Dangerous crane dangling off a building in Manhattan. No worries for you personally though, Aloc. My wife just told me it sounds like the roof is coming off her house in NJ.
  9. Happy Birthday, Chris! Come back!
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. Worried for my wife and her kids, who live east of Philly in NJ. That area is bracing for the worst. With so many trees expected to topple and bring down power lines, it's going to take a while to get electricity back up. And if it's as cold as expected with the snow/front, it could be tough for folks to stay warm w/o electricity. And I agree with mjzee, the mass transit systems may be down for a while which will cause chaos.
  12. Living on the Texas coast, I care about the strength of a hurricane! Much rather have a miminal storm directly hit than a major one.
  13. SI didn't write that. It's a Tweet that somebody posted, and SI put it in their magazine as their Tweet of the Week.
  14. Happy Birthday, Daniel!
  15. Music's also not a zero-sum game like sports, where one team/player/rider wins and the others lose.
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. Happy Birthday, my friend!
  18. Tell ya what - I actually changed two of my picks (was trying to pick Cincy over Pitt and Carolina over Dallas) an hour before kickoff yesterday, but then apparently forgot to hit the save button. I guess I'm glad I forgot, now!
  19. Happy Birthday, David!
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. I get no credit - I picked the Niners! I did ALMOST pick NYG though, should have trusted my gut. My lucky late pick was the Skins over the Vikes...
