  1. Described in The Observer a few weeks ago as ..."the best writer nobody's heard of", he really does write beautifully. I read this series of reminisciences from his life in a single go, it was "un-put-down-able". I've also just finished this by him: which is the story of his time as a fighter pilot before and during the Korean War. Again, it's beautifully written. Can anyone recommend any of his fiction?
  2. Didn't the Oliver Nelson box include a lot of his Impulse! material?
  3. My copy arrived from Hazel this morning. Sound is excellent and the music is, well, just as you would expect....astonishing! A brilliant reissue.
  4. Will this become available through "normal" outlets at some time in the future? It doesn't seem to be showing up at Amazon at the moment.
  5. Floating World Records. Nothing on their website yet, though.
  6. Looks like she's removing a stain from the cushion....oops!
  7. Great news. Thank you Jonathan! PS hopefully the current price quoted at Amazon UK (£20.58) will come down before it's released.
  8. According to Amazon this is due to be re-issued early next month, so if you missed it first time around then don't miss it this time!
  9. Was it one of their "good" days?
  10. When I heard (here) that Reel recordings had gone, I thought I'd better get this quick. I've played it once but I can't yet whistle the tunes.
  11. I e-mailed Hazel a few days ago to ask whether she has any copies for sale. It seems strange that it's available in the US over a month before being released in the UK.
  12. Who buys vinyl with scratches on it, I wonder? Anyway thanks, I might put it up on ebay and see what the response is like
  13. I sold off the majority of my vinyl collection about ten years ago and so I was wondering why I'd hung on to this particular J. R. Monterose album. Having checked it again this morning I see that there is a deep scratch across the second track on side one. Damn! So...I've cancelled my cruise to the West Indies.
  14. Have you got a link for this, etherbored? I can only find the latest one sold in the UK for $102.
  15. Can't figure out whether the original was a deep groove pressing or not. No mention of that tidbit in any archived auctions. Yes, that's a description of my copy. So, does that mean it IS an original copy then? I wonder what it's worth.
  16. That's why everythings running low.......
  17. Oh shit, that's very sad! Yes, that's VERY sad. I wonder what happened...apart from the obvious, that is!
  18. ...an original pressing? I'm no expert but it has a red label with the Studio 4 logo on it and a number of XCTV-97116/7. Is that an original?
  19. What? ....as in finished? Not only sanctioned by him - he was the one who told me last week about its imminent reissue! Esoteric also reissued his excellent debut album Open Music. He also told me that Sid Smith was writing the sleeve notes. Thanks Roger. I'll probably get an e-mail from him then when it's available.
  20. It's about time I had a CD copy of "In Action", so... I've ordered one from CDJapan. Now, what to do with my vinyl copy on Studio 4?
  21. Is this release sanctioned by Bob do you know Roger? The only reason I ask is because for the last few years I have been buying his releases directly from him via his website and this release isn't mentioned there.
  22. Yes, a reissue of all the 1960's Fontana releases with the Marte Roling covers. Now, THAT would be something!
  23. BRILLIANT! Thanks for posting that, Soulstation.
