  1. Buy w/ confidence. This guy takes good care of his goods!
  2. Right after I quit smoking pot, I had very firm resolve not to return to it. Therefore, the temptation was simply not there. But it seemed like everywhere I went, people would bust out and offer me strains that I'd only heard about: Matanuscka Thunderfuck, Blueberry, Chocolate Thai, you name it. Having gotten through that, I now have fuckin' bulldog skin. It still smells good, though!
  3. That dude's name is Soulstation 1?
  4. I think it's fair to say that the Trip lp has the same (but not all) material as the Fresh Sound. Bob Belden has lied to me on many occasions about these recordings. Just kidding! That must have been one helluva show in Chicago!
  5. That's really gouche. If I was a judge, shaving my balls in court, I wouldn't be caught dead using a disposable razor!
  6. Exactly. To me, it also isn't a matter of 5000 or any of that #'s b.s.. I was just commenting on Chuck's post. I enjoy the tracks like Ceora, Willow Weep for Me, that are on the FS set. Let's face it, aren't there more Lee completists in this house than just about any other trumpet player, except maybe Miles?
  7. I have both the BN and the FreshSound. Plus a few lps that contain this material, like the BN 2lp set w/ Lee on the front sitting under a bridge holding a flugel. Also, one called "See Autumn", which I think was someone misunderstanding the title of one of the tunes, "Ceora". So, I'm covered! Big Al, I think you probably meant Peter J. ?
  8. So, I didn't have time to elaborate earlier about my fun with drugs over the years. Like I said, I quit herb in April of 2003 and can't imagine ever going back. Too addictive. I drink 2 or 3 times a week, but I have been known to binge drink from time to time. I've dabbled in the fungus about 6 times, but I always seem to end up with some type of injury on the stuff. I imagine I'll do it again, every 3-5 years seems to be the frequency. LSD, mostly in college, maybe 10 trips total. Mostly good ones. Ecstasy, about 5x. Always was a good time, but very bad for you, I'm told. Other things white, very rarely. Absinthe a couple of times. No big thrill, there. Health-wise, I guess I'm doing well. I'm 34, never smoked a cigarette, I play basketball and softball a couple times a week. I could eat better, and drink less PBR. I had some liver issues a few years ago when I was playing and drinking 6 nights a week. Went away when I scaled it back. I should be around for a little while!
  9. I got 11. I was once buying groceries at Safeway and the checker was a she-male, or transvestite. I was wearing my Art Blakey's Jazz Msgrs. shirt, and he/she got very animated about how cool it was, and how much he/she dug jazz. Not all that strange, I guess. Just different!
  10. I find it to be a good title. I would buy damn near anything w/ Lee, as he is my personal fav. on trumpet. But 5000?
  11. Well, I'll have to ask my bandmates if they were loud, good, etc.., 'cause right after our second set (after Poison and just before KISS), I had to bail to a softball game. Poison bit the almighty chode!!! (sp?).
  12. Payton, the malcontent, is stayin' put. Maybe he'll bring game next year.
  13. Lee is in the Elvin Mosiac, too, right?
  14. I was a major pot fiend until about 14 months ago, when I quit cold-turkey. It got to the point that I had to smoke dope before doing anything. I went thru an 1/8 every 5-6 days. I've always admired those who could do it in moderation. It ain't me, babe!
  15. I see Joanna around Portland sometimes, usually at restaurants. She's a looker. I've never heard her play, but apparently she's bad-ass! I think that most of the songs that he wrote in the first 3 or 4 albums were about her.
  16. Long story short, I play trumpet with this group called March Forth (whose name comes from the fact that we sometimes do march, and that the first gig was on 3/4/03). It's a 30+ piece band that I mentioned once before in an earlier forum. 11 horns, 10 drum/percussionists, the rest are dancers, stilt-walkers, jugglers, fire-dancers, etc.. We do everything from Klezmer, to Monk, to Duke, to Bulgarian music. So, imagine my surprise when I got this message last week from our tenor player telling me that we have 3 ampitheater gigs coming up: 1. W/ No Doubt and Blink 182, which already happened, and Gwen Stefani is a serious minx/bambi. 2. W/ KISS/Poison--neither of whom I've ever really listened to, but w/t/f...and 3. W/ Fleetwood Mac. I actually dig some of their stuff. We will of course be playing Tusk. So, it's not like tables with cocaine and groupies everywhere, or free anything (we got 1 16 oz. soda ticket each! ). But I can now add these shows to my resume, or omit from, depending on the need. Feel free to make as many jokes as you wish, as I enjoy the good ones. See you all there!?!?!
  17. After getting hit really hard a few times, I learned to catch the ball. It saved my ass a few times, and then I eventually became a goalie on the soccer team. That is, until I started smoking herb and lost all interest in prep sports.
  18. Well, the show was excellent. Lonnie Smith has lost nothing. Krow and I were both deeply impressed by the FUNK laid down by Mr. Turbanstein. Crash were cool, too. Tonight will be as good, or better.
  19. How'z 'Bout Dyan Cannon?
  20. For some vague reason, this reminds me of the "Semen" thread. Hmmmm.........
  21. The Columbia Years, 1955-1985 or some such...would have gotten my vote, had it been included in y'r poll. So I guess I'll vote for the In a Silent Way Box, just because I spin it the least.
  22. Well, I have 2 of those tracks: Prince Albert and Decifering the Message. It says that Prince Albert appears on the original LP config., but not D'ing the M. I could help you w/ those, Brownie...if you want 'em.
  23. When I was around 14-15 I'd been dating this girl that was a cheerleader at my school (junior high). Her father was what the Mormon church calls a "Stake President", who sort of presided over all the other "Bishops" in his area. A big-time, important, Mormon fella. A real dick, too. So, the relationship with this girl started to falter, probably due to my non-membership in their religion. One night (in the "September" of our relationship) I was over at my friend's house, in the family room in the basement. This was where we used to plan all of our endeavors (mooning family restaurants, prank phone calls, taking Mom's car out for a test ride, etc.). This room was right next to his sister's bedroom, which always had lingerie lying around on the floor, visible to whoever walked by. So I decided to ask her if she had any expendable pieces of lingerie around that I could use for a prank. Long story short, I gathered up all of the lingerie in a paper bag and took it over to the girl's house. Her dad answered the door, and I handed the closed bag to him, and asked him to give it to his daughter, and to tell her that I was "just r-e-a-l-l-y tired". He cautiously said OK, and I took off. I came home that night and saw his car in my driveway, and while I hid in some neighbors' bushes I watched him talking to my mother. She was very visibly trying not to laugh as he lectured her about my behavior. We still laugh about it.
