I am pretty sure that there's one "Maiden Voyage" US CD out there with the Japanese master tape because the US master is pretty beat. I am also pretty sure that both of the "needle drop" masters, "The Jody Grind" and "Sweet Honey Bee", had the Japanese masters pulled to see if they were any better (I don't think they were) and they were probably used on their US CD as well. Hmm, the US RVG of "Maiden Voyage" uses the Japanese master perhaps?

Which US CD's in particular Kevin, do you know?

Yeah that's true, Freddie is there twice. What's funny is even before I saw this vid, I tend to randomly sing that lick or I always hear it in my head.

Allen, I'd think you would be also bothered by the fact Chick has pretty much for the last several releases put out double albums.

The Montreux DVD box for those of us who missed the 20 disc set looks much better. though I never liked the Miles/Quincy album. Miles was definitely not playing strong there.

Vast improvement sonically in the box for "Live in Seattle" and "Concert in Japan" Lon? How are the dynamics?

Glad I have the 4 CD "Live in Japan" set because since those are the complete performances I don't plan on upgrading. I would imagine "Live in Seattle" doesn't contain the previously unissued tracks as the 2 CD version tho "Afro Blue" is incomplete.

Last night I saw the SF Jazz Collective at Binghamton University (great concert) and I spoke with Eric Harland after the gig. I asked him how Bobby's doing as he was a member until 2007, he said he is doing much better though he gets so out of breath when he plays. Said how Hutch always was joking around and telling funny stories, Harland is a really cool guy to be around. We talked a bit about Charles Lloyd too.

I remember reading stuff years ago, maybe at JC, or one of the drum newsgroups where there were claims Tony Williams was gay. Crazy, none of these claims changes the fact all were great musicians.

Every Geffen era album has been issued except Zero Tolerance For Silence, which is probably Pat's decision.
