  1. I did not vote. I've pretty much given up on Wynton and only have heard four of these. Could not choose between the 4 I know - and that's not because I enjoyed any of them.
  2. My favorite Marsalis record is Black Codes. Hot House Flowers is a reasonably close second. There's a live at Blues Alley that I used to enjoy but have not listened to in years. J Mood was a disappointment to me. I dod not vote.
  3. My purchases have not dimished, so it must be the rest of you guys
  4. Or what if you're a wannabe musician who really sucks? Seriously, I received a mailing as ell and put it aside to see if there were any comments. Sounds interesting. Anyone else get this magazine?
  5. Well Dave, welcome back - even if you're mostly lurking. There are are few names that I remember from the early days of the BNBB. Folks who helped me with advice about Mosaic sets, Blue Note recordings and other types of jazz. I remember your posts to be informative, well thought out, and valuable contributions. Your posts, along with those of other long time posters like Lon, Kevin, Tony Jerant really helped me diversfy my listening and at the same time become a Blue Note fanatic. Seems like more posters used their real names back then too Stick around!
  6. No, I'm pretty sure she's Ronnie Shankar's daughter.
  7. But they totally dissed him when they misspelled his name. It's one word, not two
  8. I think it's Nola Jordan, Tod
  9. Interesting perspective kenny. One that more often than not I find myself in agreement with.
  10. I've actually got some responses to my silly question if that matters at this point Here's an example: When I think of Norah, I think of blue. She kinda gives out that blue vibe. Blue is cool. Like Norah. I don't know...Norah just seems like a blue lover! BTW - post 300 in the thread
  11. Bad timing for my trip to Montreal
  12. Let's see if this works: US Dollar
  13. No watch for me unforunately. Times were a lot tougher financually back then and I never bought enough when it was available.
  14. Did anyone get the watch they were giving away?
  15. I don't think that all the threads I ever started on all the boards I've ever visited combined could top this one one for replies and hits. And all this because of some lame idea I had.

    Martial Solal

I preordered a bunch of the May 20th BN releases from CD Universe. The Solal is on backorder.
  17. Jim, "the Voice of Reason" Dye: That a-hole came on pretty strong with his accusations and threats. What position were we in to determine the extent of damage he could actually have done or how much trouble Organissimo were willing to tolerate? Until B3-er came forward and basically told the guy to fuck off I think it was prudent to proceed with caution. It is the group's board after all and I certainly would not want to screw things up for the group or the board. That line about playing in his living room has to be one of the highlights of my internet experience, by the way. But once we were able to gauge the feeling of this board's administration, it OPEN FIRE on the asshole.
  18. I just saw the name of Dave James down in the roster of visitors. If I am correct, I remember that name from the BNBB. Used to be a pretty active poster who made some nice contributions early on but was pretty much MIA for the last couple of years. If it's the same Dave James welcome If it's not the same Dave James, welcome
  19. I think that Musicboy was indeed a moderator ( Musicboy bio at NJ site )but has had his priveleges taken away. He is now just a member. As for the Bob jones link, I don't think it is directly tied to the site. One of the moderators has a link to his own homepage in his bio. From that site, the link to Bob Jones is available. From my standpoint, that and the disclaimer in the new registration terms gets the Norah Jones site off the hook to some extent. Personally, I would not allow the link to the personal website that contains the link to Bob Jones site.
  20. Hopefully this ends the matter. Rob did the right thing in my opinion. Hopefuly 'boy will just let it drop at this point. Thanks Rob.
  21. I'm still not finding the link to Bob Jones University. Where exactly is the related links page?
  22. weizen and J Larsen. I'm kind of just speculating and hoping for the best, figuring that a last minute booking might work out if some airline wants to fill some seats. I've never used this approach before so I'm not counting on anything.
  23. Neon He has gone further than to harrass the band and band members. His threats have been issued to all whom he deems to be troublemakers. He claims that he has "recorded" comments here, has logged IP addresses, has tracked emails and has threatened to make our lives miserable by filing charges even though he knows he may not even have a case. That is a clear cut case of harrassment. He has threatened to disseminate across the internet the "fact" that this board is full of Christian hating bigots. As a member, I resent this defamation of my character and furthermore, I resent his repeated use of my name in a context that also includes references to the need for protection of children at this site. Those are serious accusations. I would advise you to inform him to cease and desist.
  24. Where did you guys find the link to Bob Jones University? I took a quick look around and could not find it.
  25. All the recent Conn talk had me compare my collection of Conns to the list that was posted here. When I did, I found out that I was 3 shy of a full set - Judgement, Smokestack and On the Spur of the Moment. I figured that was close enough to getting a full set, so - thanks to some board members - I now have a complete set. I did have these recordings as parts of Mosaic sets, so this was - admittedly - a "collector" thing. I'll tell you though, in my case those series things work. Conns, Rare Grooves, 10" Conns, West Coast Classics, Lost Sessions. I've got 'em all. Mind you, I would not collect them if the music sucked. But, just like Mosaic sets, once you know that the chances that the music will be good to excellent, you have enough faith to purchase material that is part of these series (or series within a series) I really have not gotten into the whole RVG thing though. I kind of view them as the standard BN reissue right now. I've replaced only a handfull of older releases with RVGs. Of course I buy all the material that I don't have that is issued as an RVG. Confession time - I made my Dexter GO RVG into a clock. Looks excellent.
