  1. At first glance it appears to be designed to give you a lot of info without having to navigate further into the site. Not a bad idea. I kind of miss the image of Mobley though. New Mosaic Homepage
  2. I went over to the Freshsounds site to browse and saw this album listed amongst the Blue Note Collection list: Pedro Iturralde Quartet Is this a mistake or is this some European Blue Note release that I've never heard of?
  3. Well, based on what I've read so far, I decided to order it from CD Universe. Probably won't get it for a couple of weeks since I put it on an order with some stuff that's coming out on the 10th. I like some of the stuff that leans toward hip-hop and dance rhythms - not as a steady diet, but certainly as a nice, fun diversion. I'm also digging the hell out the new Truffaz record. While not dance or hip-hop by any means, I like the way he uses electronics to alter the sound of his trumpet. I'd like to hear what Hargrove has to offer in this area,
  4. As for a recommendation - I absolutely love the Django Reinhardt set. One of my alltime favorites.
  5. I'd have to say that I've purchased most of my Mosaics without being familiar with the artists whatsoever. After I picked up my first few sets, I realized that these guys issue quality material and have never hesitated due to lack of familiarity. That includes sets as recent as the Carmell Jones, but also includes the Mildred Bailey, Venuti/Lang, Django, Ellington Capitol, Ventura Phillips, Chaloff, Larry Young, Joe Pass and more. I'd amend that statement to buy with confidence as long as you're interested in exploring the artist and/or style of music.
  6. Get it ! Brad and Lon are spot on in their assessments. Dexter's Steeplechase years were fabulous, in my opinion. My favorite Dex is the Blue Note 60s material, but this material is right behind it. It's a must have if you're a Dexter fan.
  7. If I were you, I'd just start my own poll
  8. I was just going to ask that!
  9. Best of luck to you Daniel. Sounds like you've got an interesting summer ahead. Hope you return to the net after you've finished your work.
  10. I picked the pick a number between 1 and 10 poll. It was interesting and somewhat amusing to sit back and observe everyone pick 7 - and for no good reason, no less
  11. Alas, my favorite date is not even on the list.
  12. I'm confused Just to clarify, are we looking at any one particular date in the years that you have listed?
  13. This is ridiculous. By not allowing me to choose a number I feel my free speech rights are being violated here. I am forwarding this thread and the names of all participants to the department of justice. Furthermore, if this poll is allowed to stand, I might just start taking names and recording this thread. I've got contacts all over the net and I just might publish a few articles letting everyone out there know about the anti-numeralists that hang out here. Just try going anywhere or doing anything once the word gets out. Throw in a few frivilous law suits, and you guys will be in the courts for years.
  14. I don't particularly care for any of the numbers from 11 to 20 but because you're taking a poll I am drawn like a moth to flame. I picked 11
  15. That's exactly why I picked nine. I always say if you mean inclusive, say inclusive

    Feliciano!

I have not played any Feliciano for a l-o-n-g time. But I have the album you pictured and remember it fondly. I've got a greatest hits from the 70s as well which is very good. He does a nice - or atleast I remember it as nice - renditions of Don't Let The Sun Catch You Cryin and of course High Heel Sneakers on one of those records. I'll have to dig 'em out and give 'em a spin.
  17. I have no idea what the blue book value is right now, but it does not matter. Right now, with a fried tranny, that car is worthless. I'd get the transmission work done. Sounds like you've maintained it otherwise and if it's in decent condition you'll be ahead - as you've mentioned - in 6 or so months based on what your new car payment would be. I'd then start looking to move down in mileage and age. You'll have time to find the right car at the right price. Plus, that car that was worthless now at least has some resale value. The Hondas I have had were all excellent cars. Right now I'm driving a 96 Chrysler minivan with 125,000 miles on it. Bought it a year ago after my 91 Honda Accord wagon with 136,000 miles on it got T-boned by some yo-yo pulling out of shopping plaza. Good luck
  18. This is fabulous news. I've been hoping for more big band material for a while. I can't wait.

    duke pearson

I'm looking forward to the Mosaic Select to round out my Pearson material. I can't say that he's my favorite BN artist, but I do enjoy his work. He does seem to get overlooked, doesn't he?
  20. I went with Avalon. I guess I was never a fan of early Roxy music but for personal reasons Avalon along with a couple of Bryan Ferry albums - Bete Noir and Boys and Girls are personal favorites
  21. Happy to hear about these I wonder which Pearson LPs will be included on the Select. I took a quick glance at AMG. A number have already been released. Think they'll just cherry pick the unreleased stuff or will they try get some sort of theme to the release. The one thing about Selects are that there need be no rhyme or reason to the contents from what I understand unlike Mosaic sets which have a theme or concept to the box.
  22. I hope you can do it. I like the international flavor as well as knowing where US posters were located at a glance.
