    Bob Dylan corner

Good to know. I've not actually heard anything from them. But I have vivid memories of the Christmas album (which is like the greatest Dylan parody imaginable, except it's a self-parody), and feared they would strike the same chord.
  2. Clarifying two of my answers. I have masks, haven't worn them because I have not gone out in public in almost two months. When I do, I will look like the Lone Ranger ("Who was that masked man?"). I chose the middling answer on the last question because my county (Montgomery County, PA) has been totally outstanding, and our County Commissioner, Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, has even been interviewed on Rachel Maddow about our approach: https://montco.today/2020/04/video-on-rachael-maddow-show-arkoosh-describes-the-hit-montgomery-countys-long-term-care-residents-and-staff-are-taking/ . The Washington Post (think it was them, not NYT), published a study of stay-at-home rates by county in the USA, and we were at 97%, as high as any county in the USA from what I could see. Pennsylvania State approach by Gov. Wolf has seemed totally reasonable to me also. Much of the federal botched response, on the other hand, is terribly troubling, and I think the nightmare is already shifting from the coasts to the middle of the country.
  3. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084DGFS18/?tag=thesecdis-20 His prime period. I will wait for reviews of sound quality before ordering. On the Angel Air label, which isn't always the highest of fidelity, but I believe is fully legit as far as licensing, etc.

For the first time in 20 years (since the mighty 'Time Out of Mind'), I can enthusiastically say I'm "in" for new music by him. I've faithfully picked up the archive releases, and eventually gotten around to the new stuff one way or another (except the Sinatra covers).
  5. I had two shipments from Russia which took almost two months, and another which is going on two months and still is somewhere between the Atlantic Ocean and Newark, though it did ship.
  6. Did I miss the 50th of "Live/Dead", or did they not do one? If not, do we know why? "Live/Dead" is my favorite album of theirs - not saying it is their best, but it has the longest run and fondest memories for me.
  7. I own and like the Garnett, Young, Willis, and Wilkens.
  8. @tkeithPlease let me know where to start! @webbcity So it turns that in addition to 7 and 14, I also own 6 (which I love), 10, 13. I really need to get more familiar with what's on my shelves! Fun BFT! I'm not a big fan of the "mature" Ricky Ford, which explains my reticence on #2. I liked him as a kid with Mingus and on his first album, "Loxodonta Africana". I may do some sleuthing based on Thom's work and your feedback to him. I may have semi-wooden ears, but I'm great at google searches!
  9. What has kept me away is the film soundtrack music on the second disc. Please report back on that after you give it a listen!
  10. Anyone gotten a shipping notice yet on the On The Corner set?
  11. Cool, where can I join a fantasy Korean Baseball League!
  12. Thom and Tim, sounds like you two listen to a lot of the same music. You'd almost think you knew each other and had hung out together or something .
  13. BREAKING NEWS The Trump administration is privately projecting daily coronavirus deaths to nearly double by June 1, even as it presses states to reopen. Monday, May 4, 2020 11:42 AM EST The projections, based on modeling by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and pulled together in chart form by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, forecast about 3,000 daily deaths, and 200,000 new cases each day by the end of this month, up from about 25,000 cases now.
  14. Let me know what that is when you figure it out. Whatever that job/career is, that's what I want to be when I grow up!

This was the first one I bought by him back in the day. Much in need of CD issue:
  16. The confirmed case #'s are gonna skyrocket if/when we get serious about universal testing.
  17. My understanding is that the Black Byrd concept was offered to Morgan prior to Byrd and he turned it down. 1972-1975 Blue Note was all over the place, so impossible to project what way Morgan's albums would have gone. Hubbard's Columbia recordings are a better listen in retrospect than they were at the time, and some of them are quite good.
  18. Don't know. I read an interview like that, but also read where Helen Morgan basically was keeping it all together for him while he did whatever. Or maybe he was recovered and sound due to her previous help? And I think any number of artists in any number of genres could feel like they are underrepresented in mass media. Don't see easy answers, but if I'm Dick Cavett in the early 70's, I need to consider viewership to stay on the air. ABC was not publicly funded non-profit PBS. Something like PBS or the NEA seems like a more suitable area to make the appeal. Just thinking out loud here, I don't have the answers, but at least this may spur more interesting posts from people who are a lot more informed than I am and have thought through this stuff a lot more than I have. I haven't seen "I Called Him Morgan", am going from articles I have read the past few years. Why did Helen Morgan get a very short jail sentence? Looking forward to receiving more enlightenment through this thread.
