To me, this Lee Morgan album is the announcement of Billy Harper as a major force, everything else about it falls into line after that.

It's very different from any other Morgan session, a new direction. I've loved it for almost 50 years, understand that tastes and mileage vary. Wore out "Capra Black" from playing it so many times.

That's true for a lot of what they put out anymore, and at least this one is good music. They've lost all label identity in the Norah Jones/Don Was era. How do you feel about Annie Lennox, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, Aaron Neville, Suzanne Vega being "Blue Note Artists"? I'm even a fan of Costello and Vega, but on Blue Note, really?

I've had so many problems with them (stuff never arriving) I largely refuse to order from them, but they always gave me refunds.

I will need to find out more about Ed Palmero. Not familiar with him at all. I own six of the albums in the BFT (Muhal, Duke, Rahasaan, Either/Orchestra, Abdul-Malik, Mccoy) and didn't get any of them right. The Teo Macero cut was interesting, but don't expect to ever come by the CD/

I guess I apparently sort of like Harper's 'Capra Black' OK . Also all in on the Purim (also would have been fine with "Stories to Tell"), Kloss (desperately needs CD release), Liebman (also needs CD release, very strange it isn't available), and Patterson (considering 70's work as opposed to 60's work). And I do agree that is one of Benson's best, along with "Beyond The Blue Horizon" (my favorite) and others. And the AEC is a good one (hard for me to pick a "best" by them, as their albums can be so different from each other). Agreed on the diversity of styles. Early 70's were a magic time for the music.

I do miss baseball, have lived and breathed it since I was seven years old, have spent much of my life with my ears glued to hall-of-fame broadcasters (Bob Prince as a kid, Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn as an adult) but everyone needs to stay safe. I will welcome whatever they come up with.,
