  1. It was a Liberty-era recording, 1968, so may be somewhat overlooked/underrated because of that. BN was pretty inconsistent during that era (and it just got worse under UA, though both of those eras produced some absolute treasures, unlike the past 35 years).
  2. I have it for you. Will PM.
  3. landmark album. too far ahead of its time to be a big seller (no fm rock market yet).
  4. Have always loved "The House at Pooneil Corners".

    Frank Zappa

I'd be interested in six disks worth, but not at anything near the $125 list price. Will hope for a smaller set to come out.
  6. "Noise in the Attic" was the first thing I ever heard by him, on WRTI, and I had the same reaction.
  7. My music collection has more CD's by Blakey/Messengers than by anyone else. Got to see him live twice in the late 80's, but not before then.
  8. I fully understand, respect, and agree with Chuck's stance. But man, youtube postings like these, with the record companies doing the posting, sure do muddy the waters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4gkabKxvc0
  9. "She Lies in the Morning" has always been a favorite for me.
  10. And let's not mention his 70's work.... Loved his work with Chico Hamilton and the Columbia Albums he did, for sure.
  11. The sound quality in this TCB Swiss Radio Days Jazz series, for the titles I own (6-8 from 50's to 70's) has been universally stunning, so I'm not concerned on this one. I'm sure it will be soundboard sourced or similar quality.
  12. Detail on the cuts. I am so in for this one, thanks! 1 Days and Nights Waiting 06:39 2 Lady Gabor 12:03 3 Sweet Georgia Bright 31:58 1 Love Ship 09:38 2 Love Song to a Baby 12:22 3 Forest Flower 27:36
  13. Understood, we just bought a 2017 Honda Accord, in large part because it is the last year they had CD players, so this is almost certainly my last car with one. I will listen to Sirius/XM in this car anyways, but my wife loves a CD player in the car. I do consider myself basically "finishing off" my CD collection with tweaks at this point, and what I have likely will nicely last me the rest of my listening life. The next generations prefer their downloads, and so be it (vinyl is still just a niche market) - I have produced my own CD-R's for the car for many years, as it has been a while since we had a car with a Sirius/XM receiver (the portable ones are too much work while driving). Interesting exchange, thanks.
  14. Not the same for us who are CD-centric. A lot more work, still an inferior product, home-burned CD-R's both don't last, and downloads don't have resale value. The late date doesn't mean we're obligated to "settle". I have large but limited funds to spend on music, and downloads for an upgrade of something I already own on CD aren't how I am going to spend them.
  15. From the New York Times evening briefing newsletter: 9. The Beatles returned to the pop charts with an “Abbey Road” reissue. The album hit No. 3 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart, marking its first time in the Top 10 since 1970. (The original album, released on Sept. 26, 1969, spent 11 weeks at No. 1.)
  16. That is not exactly clear from the lyrics (nor is anything else). Ah, the late 60's.... Pressed Rat and Warthog Cream Pressed Rat and Warthog have closed down their shop. They didn't want to, 'twas all they had got. Selling atonal apples, amplified heat, And Pressed Rat's collection of dog legs and feet. Sadly they left, telling no one goodbye. Pressed Rat wre red jodhpurs, Warthog a striped tie. Between them they carried a three-legged sack, Went straight round the corner and never came back. The bad captain madman had ordered their fate. He laughed and stomped off with a nautical gate. The gate turned into a deroga tree, And his peg-leg got woodworm and broke into three. Pressed Rat and Warthog have closed down their shop. They didn't want to, 'twas all they had got. Selling atonal apples, amplified heat, And Pressed Rats collection of dog legs and feet.
  17. Thanks, I'm in for that one when it comes out.
  18. Great stuff that has aged beautifully - I like them now even more than I did back in the day. Amazing price you got.
