First of all I must say that brother Claypone made a good choice with the Sennheisers he got. They're strictly for home use, imo, and need some good juice to power them up, but when it happens they once again spell out that Senn. is tough to beat in value. A month or so ago I got much louded Etymotics ER•4P headphoes [can't call them cans, because they go inside the ears]. Here are my impressions, after giving them a fair run with my walkman. Pros- *Amazing sound reproduction. It was the clincher for me. *Can be easily converted into the ER•4S with a simple extension cord[ER•4P produce 10 dB greater output at high frequencies and 13 dB greater output at low frequencies. The higher sensitivity and enhanced bass make them desirable for portable use, which is what I was after. ER•4S are preferred for the hi-fi listening.] *Very sturdy build for its size, but time will tell. *Extra goodies. Cons- *Microphonic effect. In other words, the wire rubbing against clothing when I walk/bike transmits the noise to my ears. It can be eliminated to a large extent by attaching the wire to the supplied clip and then clipping it to the shirt. *Price - around $230. Steep, but these are the best h-phones I've stuck in my ears so far. *Unavailability in brick-and-mortar stores for a trial listen. Bought them sight unseen from a retailer that offered 1-month return no frills. *Sennheisers were more comfortable. Remember, the ER•4P go into your ears direct. You might want to have your MD flush your ears. It's a good idea anyhow to do it yearly. *Warranty could be 3 years istead of one. I've decided to keep them, mainly because they sound very very good, despite all the little Cons they have one huge Pro - the sound is amazing even with my shitty portable. I can only imagine what a good headphone amp can do for these babies.

You should see the high-end stuff they make for the internal market in Japan! Pick up a Japanese hi-fi magazine or the Swing Journal, they almost always advertise in it. ... I'll post my impression of the Etymotics later tonight.

They've been releasing cds and lps of the corresponding material since the mid-80s, but I have no idea when they started recording straight to digital. Are their Lps from say, last 20 years, digitally mastered? Has anyone compared the sound reproduction quality of their LPs vs. CDs?

I just got this on Saturday. It appears to be quite oop, both cd and vinyl, so I guess I lucked out, because this is a wonderful date. Played under a spiritual guidance of Ornette Coleman [spirit non-credited, but it's possessor acknowledged in a 12 minute long Ornate].

After watching yesterday's Sopranos episode I'm not sure I want to show my anything to anybody any more.

It was the weirdest episode to-date. That's about all I can say about it. What about that gambler junky from the last episode? What happened to him? Isn't Tony B on parole? Where does he work? I'm sorry I just don't see this guy being a mobster, let alone a casino manager. He looks like a guy who did body-work on my car... For chrissakes, buy Tony Jr. and Meadow some acting lessons. Or whack 'em.

Brad, if there Was proof, you'd pay $2400 for a cork and nasty-looking brush? Reminds me of a caption on a display case in a Museum of WWII in Russia. Subjects that belonged to Private Ivanov - a rusty nail with which he charged the German officer and a bullet from his skull. Dude lived large... -
Anyone has any Miles DNA laying 'round the house? The buy-it-now option seems quite reasonable.

Had me laughing out loud a couple of times. http://pages.ivillage.com/catharinechronicles/theblues.htm 12. Do you have the right to sing the Blues? Yes, if: a. you older than dirt b. you blind c. you shot a man in Memphis d. you can't be satisfied No, if: a. you have all your teeth b. you were once blind but now can see c. the man in Memphis lived d. you have a 401K or trust fund 7. Blues can take place in New York City but not in Hawaii or anyplace in Canada. Hard times in Minneapolis or Seattle is probably just clinical depression... 4. The Blues is not about choice. You stuck in a ditch, you stuck in a ditch. There ain't no way out. 11. No one will believe it's the Blues if you wear a suit, 'less you happen to be an old ethnic person, and you slept in it.

MAZL TOV You couldn't have done better! Girls are the best, trust me. They're way more intelligent than boys, I have to admit. And best wishes of a speedy recovery for your wife. She endured so much!

It's his father. Tangentially speaking, no doubt Quebec knew Grachan Moncur III through his father, Grachan Moncur II and perhaps that facilitated Grachan getting sideman and later leader recording dates for the label. His first recording for BN was done less than 2 weeks after Quebec passed away. couw is right, looks like it's the BN 40s Quebec music on this cd.

Talk about backing the wrong horse!

Alexander said Celine was a nazi collaborator and I doubted that. Being a plain anti-semite and being a nazi are two not so big, but still differences. It certainly does not elevate Celine in my eyes, but clarifies one or two things. Thanks , brownie & couw!
