  1. The most underrated trumpet players of 60s-70s, in order of magnitude. 1.Richard Williams 2.Richard Williams 3.Richard Williams
  2. Well, it is kind of unusual for two musicians of note, working in the same [not overly populated] genre of music, living in the same city for years, at times playing with the same people, not to play or record a single time together. I find it somewhat odd. Hence the question.
  3. My purely unsubstantiated feeling is that it was because of some generally unknown "personal reasons". These two were far too close to each other musically to just ignore each other, so it must have been something else. Over.
  4. A Kerry connection? What are you saying?
  5. Well, the seller just replied. This is an original poster. It measures 13 1/2" x 19 1/2". The poster reads "John Coltrane December 1964" on it. I dunno...Jim is probably right. I'll keep my gun holstered on this one.
  6. I don't think they ever appeared together on record and don't remember reading about them ever playing together[i could be wrong?]. Reflecting upon Rivers's BN albums which IMO are quite related to Ornette's musical concepts I find it a little strange that they never collaborated on anything. Do you?
  7. ...Chairman Levitt also added in response to a gentleman in the tie-dyed t-shirt[not pictured]," Yes, I used to be in that band. I was the tenth Levitt."
  8. Note on the seller - Atomic Records [out of LA, if I remember correctly]. They grossly misrepresented the condition of a pricey record I bought from them on eBay and I had a tough time getting a refund. It took a good month. Maybe I just wasn't lucky...
  9. Jim, I'd think it's the Love Supreme poem. Photo seems to match. I emailed the seller for more info. I thought it was maybe a promo poster for the record, but somehow I doubt it.
  10. Saw it for sale on-line. Never came across it before. Is this a recent promo or a contemporary poster? Thanks in advance for any input.
  11. This isn't what I'd call a very descriptive photograph, but I'll take your word for it. I saw that website too. Neat stuff. So technically they've been together for 10 years or so, from 32 to 42. A period when he established himself as an international superstar. Must've spent like a sailor too.
  12. 1932? I thought he went with Alpha in 1938. I suppose they could've been living together for 6 years before getting hitched...maybe the dates got confused? Thanks for the info, Lon. Alpha sounds like a dish. I was under the impression she was a singer...
  13. Except that Louis dumped his wife #2, Lil for Alpha in 1938[?] in Chicago and in turn dumped her for his wife #4, Lucille in 1942 I can't find any other information. Does anyone have any additional info? Has she recorded at all?
  14. It's like asking which Rembrandt paintings are essential. I could never really pick. If you have the money, buy all of them, if not, eventually you will buy all of them. Seeing that you have the pre-Impulse Trane mostly, I wouldn't go crazy on the post-65 stuff just yet. Ease into it. My $.02.
  15. I won't play the doctor like the others kind folks here[except for dr.J]. So this isn't even an advice, just a suggestion - locate an internet bulletin board where parents of children with this condition post. It will be very helpful. Best of luck to your son and your family!

I said it a 1000 times and I'll say it again - SKY PIECE
  17. It's great that you guys enjoyed the shows you saw. I checked the roster and decided to pass on it this time around. Most if not all of the local cats I saw many times at the Tonic already and just wasn't keen on seeing them again. People I'd like to see weren't in the line-up. Cecil Taylor Steve Lacy Jemeel Moondoc's band George Russell etc...
  18. How about - *Tony and crew take out Johnny Sack, thus gaining control of both families. *Chrissy puts a bullet in his head. *Paulie gets a spin-off show [Paulie Walnuts Driving School]
  19. It was the most crucial episode of the whole series, imo.
  20. I didn't know he died. Heard him many times at the now defunct Smalls. He was a regular there. Imo, not a great musician by any means, but better than most I heard at that place.
  21. Just finished watching it. Now this is more like it was meant to be! I bet this guy Mateius[sp?] is connected to terrorists.
  22. If you must ask ... that's what's on right now. OK, back to work.
  23. Congrats. Hope noone gave you this one
  24. Congratulations ! Hope you get some useful presents.
