  1. Hey, Jim, how is Feech LaManna doing? Any word on him coming back?
  2. What are the odds? I bought it from an Englishman.
  3. I just got this on Saturday. It appears to be quite oop, both cd and vinyl, so I guess I lucked out, because this is a wonderful date. Played under a spiritual guidance of Ornette Coleman [spirit non-credited, but it's possessor acknowledged in a 12 minute long Ornate].
  4. Mule, is it all Jazz?
  5. After watching yesterday's Sopranos episode I'm not sure I want to show my anything to anybody any more.
  6. It was the weirdest episode to-date. That's about all I can say about it. What about that gambler junky from the last episode? What happened to him? Isn't Tony B on parole? Where does he work? I'm sorry I just don't see this guy being a mobster, let alone a casino manager. He looks like a guy who did body-work on my car... For chrissakes, buy Tony Jr. and Meadow some acting lessons. Or whack 'em.
  7. Forgot, I also bought 1 cd, Bobby Bradford - Lost in LA, on Soul Note
  8. My haul - orig.Ornette on Tenor orig. The Jazz and Classical Music Society presents a program of Music for Brass... orig.Wilbur De Paris Plays Cole Porter orig.Joe Harriott - Abstract Mal Waldron - Update Gabor Szabo - Nightflight The Complete OKeh & Brunswick Recordings Of Bix Beiderbecke, Frank Trumbauer and Jack Teagarden Mosaic The Complete Brunswick & Vocalion Recordings of Louis Prima and Wingy Manone Mosaic Classic Columbia and OKeh Recordings of Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang Mosaic The Mosaics are in print, so the guy was selling them at a considerable discount off retail. I also bought something so unusual and cool that I'll have to take pictures of *it* and post here later. Not bad for 90 min. of browsing and shmoozing.
  9. Terribly sorry to hear that, Randy.
  10. I'll be there from 4 to 7 tonight. 718.541.8575
  11. http://www.wfmu.org/recfair/ Let's hang and show each other what we got.
  12. I donno where you do your banking, but where I am all the banks count is money........
  13. Brad, if there Was proof, you'd pay $2400 for a cork and nasty-looking brush? Reminds me of a caption on a display case in a Museum of WWII in Russia. Subjects that belonged to Private Ivanov - a rusty nail with which he charged the German officer and a bullet from his skull. Dude lived large...
  14. Anyone has any Miles DNA laying 'round the house? The buy-it-now option seems quite reasonable.
  15. Had me laughing out loud a couple of times. http://pages.ivillage.com/catharinechronicles/theblues.htm 12. Do you have the right to sing the Blues? Yes, if: a. you older than dirt b. you blind c. you shot a man in Memphis d. you can't be satisfied No, if: a. you have all your teeth b. you were once blind but now can see c. the man in Memphis lived d. you have a 401K or trust fund 7. Blues can take place in New York City but not in Hawaii or anyplace in Canada. Hard times in Minneapolis or Seattle is probably just clinical depression... 4. The Blues is not about choice. You stuck in a ditch, you stuck in a ditch. There ain't no way out. 11. No one will believe it's the Blues if you wear a suit, 'less you happen to be an old ethnic person, and you slept in it.

    Is Proper an England-based company?
  17. MAZL TOV You couldn't have done better! Girls are the best, trust me. They're way more intelligent than boys, I have to admit. And best wishes of a speedy recovery for your wife. She endured so much!

It's his father. Tangentially speaking, no doubt Quebec knew Grachan Moncur III through his father, Grachan Moncur II and perhaps that facilitated Grachan getting sideman and later leader recording dates for the label. His first recording for BN was done less than 2 weeks after Quebec passed away. couw is right, looks like it's the BN 40s Quebec music on this cd.
  19. Talk about backing the wrong horse!
  20. Alexander said Celine was a nazi collaborator and I doubted that. Being a plain anti-semite and being a nazi are two not so big, but still differences. It certainly does not elevate Celine in my eyes, but clarifies one or two things. Thanks , brownie & couw!
  21. I know that. I think he wrote 3 anti-semitic pamphlets and was indicted by the French courts for that. It was before WWII. I couldn't find any information on the web that would be at least a little bit more descriptive than that. Especially the part about him being a Nazi collaborator.
  22. Regarding L-F Celine -- what exactly consituted his collaboration with the Nazis? I presume you were talking about the years of the Vichy regime.
  23. Just to let you know, Aric - we don't do lay-away any more. CD still available.
