  2. I like it too. That is Ajaramu. what i hadn't known until a few minutes ago that it was also Ajaramu aka Joe Shelton, the drummer on the Sonny Stitt album with Buster and Johnny Board... I didn't know that, either. Didn't know about Ajaramu Shelton, either. MG

  4. I was going to ask the same question! MG MG, would it be bad form for you or me to start the discussion thread? Yes, really. I think we can rely on Dr J to get it started. Some people won't have their discs yet. MG

  7. I was amazed yesterday that it got "Masem" by Tic-Tac, a Ghanaian Hiplife MC, correct. It's a bit poxy with Japanese CDs, though - tends to put the artist & album title in Japanese. Would you believe it! MG

  12. I think the only Mal Walrdon recordings I have are the ones he made with Gene Ammons - but I have quite a few of them. My favourites among them are the tracks he recorded on 5 Sept 1962, which were released on Jug's albums "Angel eyes", "Velet soul" and "Sock", which have never been issued as an album all together. I've burned them all to a CDR and they sound really nice all together. MG
  13. Funny, I've had that Harold Vick album for years and the cover never made me go "Uhhhh..." Sometimes the music made me go "switchoff"... MG

  16. "Smooth sailing" is a great album. I have the same edition as you, Chewy - got cheap in Dobells in the late sixties. The bad thing about being a soul jazz fan in Britain in the sixties was you couldn't get many albums. The good thing was that, when you did find something, it was cheap because no other bugger wanted it. MG
  17. That is one DAMN FINE player! Thanks Niko. I must get that CD. I've never heard the tune before, so far as I can recall, and I've got most of Jug's recordings. MG
  18. It goes back to the last time you were on. If you want the whole of the last day, you go to the bottom of the opening page - the one that lists all the forums - and pick "today's active topics" or something like that. It's just above the list of members on line in the last five minutes. MG
  19. I've got the "Sir Duke" set - I like it a lot. It was real cheap in the local Virgin several years ago. MG

  22. That's the main thing. And sometimes you hear something you would never have come across that you've just GOT to get and, miraculously, you find you CAN! MG
