  1. Quite extraordinary here. Four fine, sunny days, one after the other. And it's poured every night! Never known the weather to be quite so co-operative! MG
  2. At that price - even though I'm not greatly enamoured of various artist compilations - I've pulled the trigger - through the O link, not yours HM. But thanks a lot for the info! MG
  3. Stan Hunter & Sonny Fortune - Trip on the strip - Prestige blue label orig stereo MG
  4. No time to read thread. MG
  5. I'll go fer it, Conn, if I'm not too late. Haven't got either. MG
  6. Is this something that happens on US TV, instead of entertainment? Back in the day, on British TV, when programmes were all live broadcasts, they used to have intermissions - eg film of potter's wheel spinning with spinning-potter's-wheel-type music - to tide us over while they were wheeling the camera from one studio to another (or whatever). MG
  7. Margaret Thatcher Satan Robert Johnson Faust Goethe Gertrude Stein
  8. Is it: a) the music; b) you; or c) both that's driving? MG
  9. Grateful Dead Dead Kennedys The Undead
  10. I think I agree. I've got all of the LPs that make up this set (except for a bonus track or two, probably) and I wouldn't think of playing them one after another. But with boxes, there's a tendency to play them through. MG
  11. The Kalin Twins The Beverly Sisters Danny Blanchflower
  12. I've got one or two. "Soul happenin'" by Don Patterson has the original PR artwork. So did the Frank Foster I used to have - "Soul outing". Can't remember what else I've got/had of those, but I never saw any without the original artwork. MG
  13. When do you have winter in Arizona or Colorado? Another nice day today. Roofers say they'll finish the job on the garage today. Even promised to jet spray all the muck off the driveway! MG
  14. King Curtis: the Capitol Years - Bear Family 3 CD set MG
  15. Frank Foster Redman Wyclef Jean http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...10:v7320r4al48b (track 5)
  16. It came last week! Great! I enjoyed it much more than "These blues of mine", but I'm going to get into that now. MG
  17. You can! Recorded live at Birdland 22 November 1991. Shirley made another piano album for Candid, "Skylark", but I don't have that one. MG
  18. Peter Knight (before you go to bed) Sonny Knight David Hasselhof
  19. Nice day! The roofers are back to finish the job on our garage that they had to abandon a couple of weeks ago due to bad weather. MG
  20. Any of y'all ever driven in West Africa? Now that's where you really put your life in the hands of others, including in particular, the mechanics who can't mech. But everyone drives really politely. That is, when they do something for which an American driver would give them the finger - or perhaps get out of the car and try to kill them - they apologise with such friendly geniality that there's never any road rage. I've even seen offended parties help the bad driver get going again. Now THAT'S civilisation! MG
  21. Well, the continuous rain eventually stopped last night, sometime, to be replaced by continual rain MG
  22. Er, King Curtis... Lou Donaldson... But, yes, Shirley & Stanley do it up well. MG
  23. To the shops this morning with Bennie Green, all 3 discs. First time I've listened to the "Soul stirrin'" and "Congo lament" sessions on walkman, though I've had these recordings for years. Two tenors and a trombone is a fabulous sound! MG
