  1. I've got quite a few of the Prestige and Jazzland issues, but not yet all. But I want a box with all of it! Then I want a couple of later reuinions. Favourite is "Blues up & down". MG
  2. Well, after a lot of soul searchin', I finally found a cheap copy of this and ordered it on Friday. It arrived today. The packaging is too big to go in my CD racks - but it fits into the 45 shelf, which I guess is the intention! MG
  3. Is the Mosaic going to be the same as the 1989 edition? MG
  4. Sonny Stitt Roost sessions discs 7, 8 & 9 MG
  5. Yet another nice day, preceded by a wet night. I can definitely handle this. MG
  6. Much less than a tenner Andy. I got 7 from Horoshi and they cost about £5.50 each, inc postage. Now THAT'S a proper price to pay for Japanese CDs! MG
  7. Really? MG No. Just kidding. I can't even imagine my Richard Clayderman and Pappetti original first press to go out of my house, for whatever reason. MG
  8. Joel created some classic sleeves for Atlantic and Stax Here’s Booker T & the MG’s imitation of “Abbey Road” And here’s the SUPERB reverse of the clover And who can ever forget those sublime Ohio Players album sleeves for Westbound? Or Funkadelic’s MG
  9. Best wishes for a really memorable and fantastic year. MG
  10. Seems to be an original. You're right about King records having been subjected to serious partying. And they still play great! You get the same thing with the UK Esquire editions of Prestige Soul Jazz releases in the early '60s. Here's what my copy of one looks like. The record matches the sleeve - but sounds great! MG
  11. I'vealso got a couple of WBGO-FM T-shirts. I see they're not doing them any more - so I'd better see what they might fetch on e-Bay MG
  12. I've got one of these Only not the girl inside it. Underneath the "Spillers Records" it says "Est 1894". MG
  13. Before I forget again, I got a Christmas e-mail from George saying that he'd have a new album out this year. So keep your ears peeled! MG
  14. Hm, I didn't know there had been a TOCJ of that one. Must see if I can still get it. I've only got the LP. MG
  15. The Smothers Brothers Brother Ray The Bruvvas
  16. My sentiments entirely ! As you say, a really good vibe on all of George's albums (at least the ones I have heard). The 'Musart' is an interesting one. Covers everything from MOR vocals to afro-groove to neo-Trane free form. Yes - I had it for a couple of decades before I got it. But when I did... I think it's the loveliest of his albums. MG
  17. I thought this thread had died. Oh wait... MG
  18. Not much rain, I see. There are no weather stats for Tonyrefail. But about 15 miles up the valleys, they have about 10 feet a year. MG
  19. Got 'em at last! Sorry for delay, guys Will have a listen after lunch. MG
  20. A great album! And Les may be a limited piano player, but you can always hear that he's a wonderful and inspiring human being and that's all you need, in my view. MG
  21. I love this album - it's got such a good feeling about it - really unequalled in all of jazz. But I love all the Braith I've heard. I haven't heard "Double your pleasure" which was issued in the '80s on Paddlewheel. Anyone know about this one? MG
  22. FYI , Bish's wife Valerie drops in here on occasion . I hope she sees your post . As a Coral Keys owner let me just say that that was a hell of a magnanimous gesture on your part . Indeed! I take it this is BJ2 we're talking about. A fine album! Thanks for the reminder; will play later. MG
  23. Sonny Stitt Roost sessions - discs 1 & 2 MG
