  1. RCA came up with a way to market classical music with a sexy angle to young single females. What's particularly stupid about this series is that the suggestive poses on the covers are cartoons, therefore earning parental advisory stickers, instead of due to the music. Here's the Mozart anthology: Beethoven: Chopin:
  2. Someone in town just snagged 10 more CDs, the list is updated.

Obviously this millionaire suffers from CMF Syndrome. Maybe she tried to get him to cut his stupid hair and the permastubble on his face. "Grow a real beard or shave, damn it!" Pathetic.

His "music" fails as well. I've long called it "hairdo" music.
  5. I have a CD copy of Where Flamingos Fly available as a part of the posted estate sale I'm handling, if I don't decide to buy it myself.
  6. Here is the list of things I have available. I've tried to keep little-known artists off of the list, with the exception of a couple of European artists deserving of wider recognition.

I am willing to take offers or discount orders of 8 or more CDs.

If shipping is required, $2 for the first CD and 50 cents for each additional title should be sufficient for first ...

  7. Have put all items requested on hold. More to come tonight.
  8. Inventory updated 8/31/12. I am helping the widow of my old radio partner sell off his music collection to help her pay some bills. Shipping is pretty much whatever my cost will be, US only, with payment in Amazon gift certificates to me so I don't have to worry about fees or figuring out how to get reimbursed for shipping from her. I have tried to base pricing to be at or below similar condition CDs available on Amazon or Half.com. Condition is excellent/like new unless indicated. CDs which have been reissued several times are usually the very first reissue editions. Please send me a PM with any questions. 15. There was also a live meeting of Stephane Grappelli and McCoy Tyner, which has appeared on several labels: Stephane Grappelli & McCoy Tyner Live in Warsaw Who's Who In Jazz
  16. Russell Gloyd informed me that they are at work on a Columbia live boxed set. He didn't mention if it will be exclusively the quartet or possibly include the material with Gerry Mulligan, Jack Six and Alan Dawson (I imagine it is unlikely). One thing I know is that the set from the 1956 Newport performance edited out one song (I think it was either "The Duke" or "In Your Own Sweet Way," I haven't read the liner notes in awhile) from the Brubeck side of the LP. Also, Russell mentioned that there are a number of unissued tracks from the 1962 Concertgebouw concert, which wasn't issued on LP until 1968 or so.
  17. I am working on a writeup for some unissued music by Dudu Pukwana, including the following songs: Hidden Spirits Ducking Darkness DMNT Freeze Blessing Light Blue Nick Black Horse Unfortunately, no discographical information was provided, either personnel or recording date. Has anyone run across these recordings in their research?
  18. The Brubeck box only covers the quartet's studio sessions with Desmond, though it does not include the stereo performances for Dave Digs Disney, which was sold as a CDR on demand or download exclusively (an additional 13 tracks over the earlier CD reissue). Also missing is the album The Riddle with Bill Smith in Desmond's place, The Real Ambassadors (Desmond was not a part of it), nor Brubeck's Columbia albums with Gerry Mulligan. Also omitted are the bonus material from the two CD + DVD reissue of Time Out, plus the albums with Jimmy Rushing or Carmen McRae. Producer Russell Gloyd shared with me that they are working on a Brubeck Live Columbia boxed set for the fall of 2012., commenting that there was ample unissued music from the 1962 Concertgebouw show.
  19. I don't have any discographical information, but 1201 Music is planning to make downloads available for sale in 2012 of the following trio tracks by Jym Young: Strings, Keys and Thumbs 9:05 As a Matter of Fact 6:30 South Vietnam Blues 9:59 Backfield in Motion 5:54 Times are approximate, I don't have the most current Lord Discography so I don't know if this session is listed or if the remaining musicians are named. These tracks weren't listed in the edition I own.
  20. More thorough listings can be found in the January issue of Hot House, viewable as a PDF: http://www.hothousejazz.com Have fun, Chuck!
  21. Russell Gloyd told me they are at work on another boxed set focusing on the Brubeck Quartet's live recordings. He mentioned there are many unissued takes from the 1962 Concertgebouw album (which wasn't released until 1968 or so). Another thing missing from the Studio boxed set, all of the stereo takes from the Columbia Legacy Digital/CDR on demand edition of Dave Digs Disney.
