Amen! Even on the barely audible Live at Birdland recordings with Fats and Red Rodney, Bird still sounds sublime.

Get all the Bird you can afford. Period. I laughed at that statement ... not scoffed, but genuinely thought it was funny. Dolphy was never fully "out" though ... always on the edge, but as Parkeriana aptly demonstrates, he could play the changes.
