Numbers 3,6 and 8 were done at the Jan. 1995 session. All the others are from the Mar. 1997 date.

Starting the day with Rejoice! Red Mitchell Cello Debut At The Renaissance- Pacific Jazz. This was a nice quintet with Red on cello a la Sam Jones, Jim Hall guitar, Frank Strazzeri piano, Jimmy Bond bass and Frank Butler drums. I doubt if this will ever come out on cd since it was not recorded very well. I think PJ either bought or leased the session after the fact, but once you get used to the sound, the music is great.

Starting to get in the mood. Happy Holidays From Many Lands- The Mastersounds-World Pacific

Kind of a mixed bag so far today Dizzy with the Mitchell Ruff Duo In Concert-Mainstream Eddie Condon-Tiger Rag-World Pacific with Rex Stewart Ted Heath At The Palladium vol 3 London, with the excellent Ronnie Verrell on cans. IMO Verrell could have played in any big band in the States, had he decided to come over here.

I guess i don't get the importance of a stereo tape of 100% Proof, as i have it on a stereo lp. Unless it is lost, there is a stereo master of that session. Please enlighten me if i am missing something.

Lee Konitz-Figure And Sprit on Progressive. A nice quintet date with Lee, Ted Brown on tenor, the very underrated Albert Daily on piano, Rufus Reid bass and Joe Chambers drums. From 1976.

Manchester Fog Lars Gullin 1954-1956, a two lp set on Metronome. This set covers most of the things that came out in the US on Emarcy, both 10" and 12"

After reading the Xanadu Records thread i have hauled out the four volumes of Xanadu In Africa and a couple of the Dolo Coker's. That ought to keep me busy for awhile.
-
The Slide Hampton was July 26, 1962 I have that Charles Williams lp, but there is no recording date. I can tell you the song is a Don Pullen tune. You guys are too fast today.

That probably is an original PJ. I had a number of PJ and Fantasy colored vinyl lp's back in the day. I had them green, red, blue, yellow and you name it. The colored vinyl sounded the same as the black. Two that i remember having were Les McCann's The Shout and Dave Brubeck/Bill Smith Near Myth.

Mike, If the Gibbs album was the one titled Bopstacle Course, it was on Xanadu, #210, with Barry Harris, Sam Jones and Alan Dawson. It was recorded in July 1974.

Mike, I think you are getting Head On and The Peacemaker mixed up. The Peacemaker was the Cadet date. Head On was a BN date produced by George Butler. Both nice albums, but it would not break my heart if they lost the track on the Peacemaker with Duck Bailey playing harmonica. BTW the old BN discography shows two unissued tracks for the Head On date.

Jim, Inner Glow was a Japan only issue. That may be why you have not seen it. I can't scan covers but if you run over to that Vintage Vanguard site, he has all the Japanese covers on the page marked special albums.

Thanks so much, i have a 2lp set called Euphoria and i thought the whole East Of Suez lp was part of it and you have just confirmed it. Once again thanks
-
Can one of you nice people give me the song titles on the Charlie Ventura lp East Of Suez. I dont remember if that was on Regent or Savoy. Thanks in advance

Mike, Two little corrections: On the Nistico you need to omit Curson on b and c On the Katz you need to omit Wess on the same tracks as Knepper. Otherwise its looking good. This might have been the fastest discography in history.
-
Mike, Here is the track order on the Unissued Tunes Vol 1 a-01-Stablemates-Brignola a-02-Moonlight In Vermont-Hartman a-03-On Green Dolphin Street-Salvador b-01-Like Someone In Love-Nistico b-02-Blues In F-Davis Jr. b-03-Blues In The Closet-Salvador I also think that the two dates that differ on this from the regular lp are typos. I think on one someone typed in the wrong month and on the other a 1 instead of a 2 for the date. But without the recording logs i cant verify it.
-
Mike, Here are a couple more changes on who is playing when. Sal Nistico-Nov.3,1978 Omit Brignola and Curson on b and c Curtis Fuller-Dec.6,1978 Omit Nistico on e. I did not notice you were listing what songs are on each side of the lp. I have that info if you want me to go back and edit the long post.

I guess there are a few deals to be had on that Pearson auction. I just won the Harry Lookofsky Atlantic lp for only $31.00. Its one of the few Atlantic's i did not have, so i am a happy camper.
-
I have all 17 albums. On the whole they are all pretty nice dates. That various artist album is made up of unissued tracks from the other sessions.

Can someone give me the personnel on the Sal Salvador Quartet album Music To Stop Smoking By on Roulette. There is no mention anywhere in the notes. Thanks in advance.
