  1. That was my fear as well.
  2. Every unopposed race was listed on my ballot (optical scan) here in Missiouri, and I believe the same option was available on the touch screen system (or else you were directed to use an optical scan ballot if you wanted to vote for any "write-in" candidates). With the optical scan ballots, you could write in any name you wished for any race, opposed or unopposed. I'd complain to your local election commisioner, and perhaps just as important -- write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. (In fact, get a few friends to write some similar letters -- if you really want to get one printed. In this day and age, multiple original letters is what will really get something printed in the paper. Try to get at least 5 people to write in about the subject.)
  3. Power To The People is one of THE absolute best Joe Hen albums, ever!!! Run, don't walk!! About damn time this came out as a domestic US release (and in a standard case). Should have happened 10 or 15 years ago. It's a crime that the world had to wait until 2007 for this to see wide release on CD.

  5. Count me as a fan. I haven't picked up Fold's latest disc yet, but I have pretty much all his earlier releases. Well crafted pop, IMHO. My wife likes him too. Good music for roadtrips.
  6. Must see on Youtube... Average Homeboy Demo (Original) - Denny Blazin Hazen See also... http://blaze.bbqclothes.com/
  7. The only Horo I have is one of the Ra's, "Other Voices, Other Blues". Fantastic!! - and I'd buy one on CD in a heartbeat.
  8. Unfortunately I'll be at work all day on Saturday (my work-week runs Tuesday through Saturday). Wish I could join you - maybe next time!!
  9. Dookie plays drums??
  10. Matthew Smith created 2 of the greatest ever ZX Spectrum computer games in 1983 and 1984, Manic Miner and its sequel Jet Set Willy, in the mid 1980s, he disappeared into obscurity but he re-emerged in 2002 and was interviewed on Channel 4 in a video game documentary.
  11. That Gary Bartz is mighty tempting. Somebody else please buy it, before I have too!!
  12. Of all people, it's Diz shortly after 2:20
  13. This reminds me that I've often thought that much of Wayne's playing sounds as if his 12-tone chromatic scale actually has about 13½ notes in it!! I'm not sure I mean that literally, but honestly - my ears might well react the same way listening to Wayne, as they would some someone who really does play in scales that have 13½ "half notes" per octave. I was recently listening to a CDR I made recently made up of all the previously unreleased material (and alternate takes) from the 65-68 2nd Great Quintet box (Miles). I made that disc so as to have one disc of that band that was all material that I was less familiar with. I hadn't listened to much studio Miles recently from that era (not in 6 months or so), and I was immediately struck at how very much Wayne sounded just like he does today, on his two recent live recordings on tenor. You could put passages of each on, side by side, and I think many of us would be hard-pressed to tell which was which without at least a good 15 or 20 seconds to go on. I'm not saying the man hasn't developed and progressed since then -- but rather, I was newly amazed at how advanced and totally modern Wayne sounded back in '67 or so. (Same with Etcetera -- my favorite of Wayne's BN leader material.) NOBODY sounded like that then, and nobody does today either. (And My 13½ "half notes" per octave observation goes for a good bit of Wayne' playing back in the day too. I don't know much, if any, of his 70's output - I'm afraid.)
  14. There are worse things I can think of than living them out through a high school band. Namely, living them out through a high school showchoir!!!
  15. They need help from !!! Another voice heard from... - and what a voice it is!!!
  16. Absolutely! And my wife really liked it too.
  17. High School band (and choir) cover Pink Floyd - Us and Them Put yourself in those kid's shoes -- how cool would it be to play some of Dark Side of the Moon live on stage?? (And it looks like they even had a pretty good light-show, certainly for a high school production anyway.) Probably pretty cool, I'm guessing. By the same High School band... Genesis Medley part 1 (2:41) Genesis Medley Part 2 (1:15) Genesis Medley Part 3 (2:45) genesis medley part 4 (1:35) Genesis Medley part 5 (0:33) genesis medley part 6 (1:00) Probably a pretty cool band director too, would be my guess.
  18. Sounds like you had an epiphany to me, so it's all good.
  19. Reminds me that I'm sure glad I've never given Paypal my bank account information. Of course over those first three years (from about 2000 to late 2002 or early 2003, I spent down my $1,000 spending limit with them-- although lucklily when I got down below $50 or $100, they bumped it back up to $1,000 again (after telling me 100 times I'd better give them my bank account numbers, before my spending limit got all used up). Empty threat, I thought (I refused to give them my bank account numbers), and I was right, they bumped me back up with another $1,000 limit. Now, three years (more) later (late 2006), I've spent down that $1,000 too (I guess I spend about $300 per year on stuff I have to use Paypal for). My spending limit is down to something like $32. And I still refuse to give them my bank account numbers. But this time, they haven't bumped my limit back up (at least not yet). Wonder if they will if I spend that last $32 down to $10 or $5 (or $2)?? We'll see. I guess my only choice is to start a new Paypal account, with a new e-mail address. Cuz they sure ain't gettin' my bank account numbers, THAT'S for sure.
