Yessongs was (and remains) a huge favourite of mine. Wish it would get a decent reissue. Since the mid-1970s, the band's massive egos and out for a buck mentality have been a big turnoff.

I was just reading about him a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like it was an intriguing band.

Not my favourite decade. "This Corrosion" by The Sisters of Mercy, or maybe "Dominion/Mother Russia." "Siege of Power" by Napalm Death "Comp. 105 A" by Anthony Braxton

Help My Wife and I Eat Better and Lose Weight
B. Clugston replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Cut out sugar and cut back on bread. Don't eat white bread. Drink lots of water. Cut out pop. Fish is good, but if you don't like it, try and have more protein than carbs. Have brown rice instead of white rice. Eating white bread and white rice is liking eating a bowl of sugar. -
That's a classic. One of my favourites.

What happened? Did they play "Toad"?

Just showed this to a colleague who has seen some Ryan Adams blow-ups in his time and he couldn't believe it!

If you showed up hoping for a hissy fit, you definitely got your money’s worth that night. A high-strung guy, for sure, and I can see how distractions would piss him off, but he went way too far there. It’s weird seeing the leader of a standards piano trio acting like John Lydon (aka Rotten). If I were in the audience, I would have started yelling requests for “Free Bird.”

Ben Cahoon (!) kicks the winner for Montreal. Lions only handed the ball off to Joe Smith nine times. They were 2nd and 5 at the 'Riders 6 and Jackson threw two straight incompletee passes (to be fair, there was uncalled blatant pass interference on the latter). Given two chances, you go to think Joe Smith would have made it to the end zone.

Last week was the week the Lions would lose one. They get 254 yards. The Stamps get 525 yards. Yet the Lions won. I would like Saskatchewan's chances on Thursday. They didn't look good in the earlier game and will want to avenge that loss. Plus, B.C. is pretty beat up. However, I wouldn't rule the Lions out. Should be a good game. Interestingly, Jarious Jackson has been more inclined to throw long passes down the field than either Pierce or Dickenson.

I highly recommend this album. Some beautiful arrangements on it.

Jarious Jackson will start for the Lions against Saskatchewan on Thursday. Buck Pierce will back up. The Lions have a lot of injuries in their secondary.

The just arrived Big John Patton Mosaic Select and Woody's Winners. -
A word for bassist Motoharu Yoshizawa. Great player. His early '70s stuff with Kaoru Abe makes for great blindfold test stumpers.

It was on Black Lion. Not sure if it's still available. Don't get too excited. Not a great date, but it has some nice bits.

Not that I'm aware of. Ayler's one album of spirituals, Goin' Home aka Swing Low, Sweet Chariot contains: Tracks 1. Goin` Home (4:26) 2. Ol’ Man River (take 2) (5:25) 3. Down By The Riverside (take 6) (4:39) 4. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot (take 3) (4:30) 5. Deep River (4:15) 6. When The Saints Go Marchin’ In (4:12) 7. Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen (4:44) 8. Ol’ Man River (take 1) (3:58) 9. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot (take 1) (4:49) 10. Down By The Riverside (take 5) (4:28)

A lot of people are worried for Dave and want him to put his health first. Nobody wants him rushing back.

This will be coming out in a couple of months: http://www.winterandwinter.com/index.php?id=49 Uri Caine Ensemble »Otello Syndrome« 910 135-2 [1 CD] Uri Caine continues his series of adaptations with Verdi's »Otello«. For the first time Caine arranges a dramatic work with a mixture of stage and concert elements. Verdi's operatic story is the central thread through the composition, but Uri Caine equally cites from Shakespeare's original play. Arias are juxtaposed with R 'n' B elements, BeBop and electronic sounds, but Verdi's famous melodies do never loose their authenticity.

The Lions are planning on Buck Pierce to start against Calgary. Otis Floyd is stil injured and won't play. Geroy Simon, the CFL's most outstanding player of 2006, has been visibily frustrated with the lack of passes heading his direction. I believe he only had two catches playing against a holographic Hamilton secondary.
