  1. Big John Patton Mosaic Select and Got a Good Thing Going Kenny Dorham's Matador/Inta Somethin Carpathian Forest Fuck You All
  2. Gaslini and Braxton did an album together in the early 1980s. Gaslini was intrigued by Braxton's title for "Comp. 101," so he drew his own design for the album. I've only heard Ayler's Wings and Skies of Europe with Italian Instabile Orchestra, but keep meaning to hear more.
  3. They're probably not big sellers and Jazzloft is clearing inventory.
  4. Philip Larkin would have been proud.
  5. That's apparently an error. "Black Satin" was made at the following session with Creamer, Garnett, et al.
  6. Due to the complete lack of information in the set, that's one of many unanswered questions. I think the into/ending may be longer, but don't have it front of me right now. Also, maybe I'm not as on the ball these days having a newborn at home, but I'm having a hard time finding the connection between the "One and One" unedited master and the released version.
  7. Sad news. A very adventurous figure. I wish it was easier to buy his CDs, instead of the current 'send a money order and we'll send your CDs on the next milk truck' system.
  8. Leo has also put out Volume 4 of the Yoshi's Ninetet.
  9. I know, but I'm on a budget.
  10. I've really been appreciating Kenny's work recently. What should I get next: 2 Horns, 2 Rhythm or Blue Spring?
  11. Zzzzzz. (But I hope Tolliver wins.)
  12. I like the Carnegie Hall album with the classic quartet. Jazz Impressions of Japan was great too. I saw Brubeck perform five years ago and it was a pretty fabulous concert.
  13. "Ife," probably "Mr. Foster," "Turnaround," "Maiysha," the odd "Calypso Frelimo" reference. Not sure about "What They Do." It shares some similarities to song known as "Turnaroundphrase," but is missing some key elements. "What They Do" sounds more like the "Turnaroundphrase" rave-up that closes Dark Magus.
  14. I'm sorry to see this forum go and hope it can be saved. Lots of great posts here ranging from the informative to the entertaining to the eccentric. While there's a few blow-ups from time to time, I've always preferred the tone here to other forums. Thanks for all your great work, Jim.
  15. Victo has released the Diamond Curtain Wall concert from Victoriaville earlier this year featuring Mary Halvorson, Taylor Ho Bynum and a computer.
  16. I own: For Adolphe Sax Machine Gun Fuck de Boere Nipples 3 Points and a Mountan...plus Berlin Djungle Eight by Three with Borgman and Braxton Die Like a Dog Stone/Water Broken English I like the first three plus Berlin Djungle the best. Fuck de Boere is fantastic. I saw the Tentet plus Two around the time they recorded Broken English. Pretty good show. Joe McPhee was amazing, vocalizing over a drone through his valve trombone while circular breathing. As for Brotzmann, I enjoy his playing, but grow weary if I hear too much of it.
  17. Brotzmann's Die Like A Dog Complete FMP Recordings have been reissued in a non-FMP boxed set. http://ssl.adhost.com/jazzloft/baskets/pos.cfm?CD=13573
  18. PM sent.
  19. Mike Westbrook did two albums of Rossini. Uri Caine had a great Mozart disc out last year and will soon release a Verdi disc. The second Naked City album had covers of Debussy, Scriabin, Messiaen and Ives. Willem Breuker covered "Bolero."
  20. The Lions have given the Ti-Cats permission to speak to Bob O' B.
  21. I bought both Oxleys in London about eight years ago. I was as surprised to see them on CD as I was to learn they were on Columbia in the first place. Both are great discs with quite the line-up from the burgeoning UK improv scene.
  22. I'm deeply offended that Morton Feldman appears sideways. Please bring back your previous avatar.
  23. Congrats! I had a baby girl born on Halloween. For all the diapers and lack of box set purchases, it's a wonderful experience.
  24. Saskatchewan, 48 points.
