  1. Not sure what the Monk remark is about ... I never said it wasn't included, did I? Anyway, the Monk album alone is reason to get this box - that is if you haven't got it already.
  2. very sad news - r.i.p., thanks for a lot of great music
  3. Look at this on-going Vogue thread for some discussion: While I've not listened to any of it, it certainly is a very nicely done set!
  4. what do the asterikses in the above list indicate? and note the box is titled Vol. 1 - seems they will release bootleg series 1-73 as Vol. 2 in 2073 or so ...
  5. No, a week left ... glad they added an international option for the CD + full DL, guess I'll join in, too!
  6. Indeed Finally took time to have a closer look, myself!
  7. Ethan Iverson has a great write-up on Bailey on his blog: http://dothemath.typepad.com/dtm/2013/10/donald-bailey.html Some very interesting observations there, for instance these: Then there's a great story on "The Sermon" ...
  8. you can see them without being a member (I'm not, either): https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nessa-Records/164776050253630?id=164776050253630&sk=photos_stream
  9. The re-packing and -grouping that Rearward does is a bit confusing ... they did some reissues that have like 80% overlap with other of their own reissues (the Shihab discs!). Escapes me why they do that. Rather stick to one "line" and bring out more music! But hey, this is a small complaint, since basically it's just great that anyone still bothers about Clarke/Boland!
  10. Thanks for sharing! I was aware but tend to quickly forget again ... will have to get both eventually (and a few more from Rearward, both Clarke/Boland and others).
  11. Okay, so they ARE different from the Hindsight material, then - thanks!
  12. Thanks a lot, got to have a closer look, somehow was under the impression the Hindsight LPs were covering earlier material. (edit for typo)
  13. okay, I'm lost now, where to go?
  14. Got to get this, too, eventually! Want the Lunceford, too, but it's on backorder for a while (anywhen 2014, not very precise).
  15. I remember it, too ... there was even a short article in one of the daily papers I read.
  16. Interesting point regarding E.S.P. ... regarding the Miles albums, "Miles Smiles" would be my pick - that one, to me, best exemplifies what this group was about, and Hancock is just amazing on it! I assume my vote when to "Speak No Evil", but "Etcetera" and "Adam's Apple" would be strong contenders. (Why can't we see what we voted for?)
  17. Undeservedly so, I'd say! Their gig in Zurich was pretty darn great! And very much on the outer end of Roach's musical spectrum. I found it thought provoking and highly enjoyable to see Roach opening up to this type of music. Saw him in duo with Abdullah Ibrahim, too - much weaker concert, alas, but Roach's half hour solo set was darn great and he was a charmer!
  18. Bump - still don't have the Circle stuff ... I think - I'm still a bit confused regarding all those Ellington transcriptions though. I have the Hindsight 3CD box (rec. 1946/47), but what about the "Uncollected" ones, those are from 1943-45, right? What's the best way to get those? Are they included one some box-set, is there overlap with any other series (Storyville's DETS)?
  19. Not sure, I'd guess if you order now, you'll get them to this price once they'll be back in stock. But I don't really have any experience on how Amazon handles such cases ... most of them are out of stock by now.
  20. very sad news - r.i.p. here's the earlier thread: that late disc is fine, and the trio with Rowles and Mitchell is mighty good, indeed (thanks brownie)!
  21. Wonderful set! Very good to have all of this music in one place ... tends mostly to be overshadowed by other bands Miles let, but there's so much very good music in it, I really enjoy it! I've loved the Lincoln Center concert ever since getting that Great 1964 Concert double disc (or what was it called?), and the Berlin concert is pure magic!
  22. So Hip-O-Select has to be British, then ...
