The trumpet player was the leader, and drummers, there's indeed two of them! Don't think you know this tune... it's an original penned by the baritone man with someone else unknown to me. I love this one, never thought the exectution was faulty in any way. Kind of veterans, maybe... but not really. There's some more around by them, though. I'm sure you know them Two bass players, soprano is the leader's. Thought you might easily get this one! The trumpet player has just been identified 1972 Two sax players... guess Coltrane was indeed their reference. Many thanks for your feedback!

Agree with John L here - but Allen's point is valid, too. No fan wants to be without any of this material. The saddest, to me, is "Laughing to Keep from Crying"... but then the cover and the poignancy of the title... well, I love all things Pres

Thanks again! Had a good day, nice dinner out in the evening... and got invited to the Sharon Jones gig in Zurich in May (as I'd been hoping ), donated to Giuseppi Logan's new project, ordered me some new stuff (that Eddie Rozner 2CD set, Satchmo's Complete Town Hall Concert and a very cheap copy of "Satchmo the Great", finally the two Lifetime albums I've been wanting for years, "Emergency!" and "Turn It Over", as well as the Loretta Lynn 3CD set... that will keep me busy for a while). All of this good stuff has been overshadowed by the news first of Levon Helm's sad state and just now his death - damn! Playing CD2 of "The Last Waltz" box as I'm typing this... best rock band ever, best rock drummer ever, and a fantastic singer, too!

Agreed on the Coleman/Lafitte! Got that one and the wonderful Websters on CD... Webster's LP "Midnight at the Montmartre" I also have... wonderful wonderful music! "Stormy Weather" - whoah! That's some deep shit! I got that LP for free (!) while I was still in high school, at a great little record store in Zurich, where I bought some stuff and then they let me have that one with it... still love them for it, though the store moved out of town and the original owner ain't there no more. Don^t know the Hines and Byas material yet, the Griffins ("Live at the Jazzhus Montmartre", two vols.) I've got on Jazz Colours cheapo discs - fantastic music indeed! Same here, judging from what little I know about vinyl... bought the Stitt w/McGhee (okay session, but not that good, really) and Helen Humes' "On the Sunny Side of the Street" last year somewhere in Germany (darn, was it in Essen or in Bochum? I can't remember!). The other LP I've got is Pettiford's "Vienna Blues". Another fine one!
