  1. That would be a hell of a Mosaic set. And, looking on discogs, enough people would be very interested. I have always understood that Mal had an almost rockstar status in Japan. This makes it even more that almost his full discography is out of print and quite a lot of records are hard to get.
  2. I think it was supposed to be the first ECM release but for some reason it was released by ‘Globe’. Do not exactly remember what the story was. i’ve got three records on Tutu: Mal, Dance and Soul, Mal, Verve, Black & Blue and Quadrologue at Utopia vol.1. These are great sessions especially the last one mentioned: that one is steamin! Not as great as his ‘70’s and ‘80’s stuff but still: All very much worth having. I think most of it is still available for reasonable prices at Discogs. Thanks Soulpope!! I still cannot believe that this early ‘70’s stuff (Spanish Bitch, The Call, Reminiscent Suite) is so rare and not reissued except for a Japanese vinyl reissue 40 years ago. This is absolutely unique and stunning music that’s deserves so much more recognition. And even now that these records got some of a ‘cult’ status by some collectors, there is still no reissue program. Plenty of Mal 1 reissues though 😂
  3. So, so incredibly happy with this!
  4. August reissues: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/newrelease/jazz/index.html?month=2019-8 Quite a few albums I do not know that much....
  5. It is now finale reissued on vinyl: https://www.discogs.com/Marion-Brown-Le-Temps-Fou/release/13722594
  6. Happy bday mr Heath!
  7. That’s interesting stuff!
  8. Thanks! Had my eye on the Belgrave already. Is Strata records linked in anyway to Strata East?
  9. Nice! Mr. Murray was in absolute fine form at the Bimhuis last Thursday. Murray/Håker Flaten/Nilsson-Love
  10. Thanks for the info! Just when you think you probably know all the stuff on the usual labels you discover something new. Unfortunately P Vine is expensive stuff indeed, that is why I asked tips for I do not want to make the wrong choices with this kind of money.
  11. In my never ending search for new jazz I hit P-Vine’s ‘Black Ark Series’ on Discogs. https://www.discogs.com/label/593414-Black-Ark-Series I am a big fan of the 70s spiritual jazz movement, the labels like Strata East, India Navigation and Muse. To my own shame I must admit that, with a few exceptions, I don’t know any of the artists on the Black Ark Series. Anyone here does? Any recommendations? It seems like the stuff for me
  12. David Murray with Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Paal Nilssen Love at the Bimhuis coming this thursday.
  13. Mr. Benny Golson at the Bimhuis. It was just great. 90 yo and the guy s still going strong. Between the songs he told numerous funny anecdotes bout his time with Coltrane, Dizzy, Blakey and Morgan. A beautiful person!
  14. Wow thats awesome stuff. That first release looks like something I am going to want to have
  15. Yes according to jazzdisco.org there is quite a lot of unissued studio material too. Unfortunately people do not feel the moral obligation to share this music with the world. Unfortunate cause who benefits if it’s on some dusty shelf somewhere. I do not believe that was Trane’s intention anyway. Enjoy! It’s a killer! (Both sessions are, but the 65 is from outer space)
  16. Without a doubt. I misinterpreted the word ‘rectify’. I thought BFrank said he did not have the Newport ‘63 record but did have the My Favorite Things at Newport release.... English is not my first language 😵
  17. Newport 63 is on this release.
  18. A vinyl reissue is on its way! https://www.dustygroove.com/item/918918?cat=jazz&incl_cs=1&no_incl_in=1&sort_order=release_date

    Don Cherry

Yeah there are no sources that claim this is a bootleg nor are there sources that claim it is legit. The blog you are referring to: the blog writer is claiming the release is remastered from the original master tapes... It is probably legit because: 1 the sound quality is quite good and sounds professional 2 it was probably remastered from the original tapes it is probably a boot because: 1 the cover is a very weird choice.... 2 the rather vague record label. anyway the music is unbelievably great.

    Don Cherry

Anyone checked out this recent release? https://www.soundohm.com/product/universal-silence-2lp/pid/34658/ https://www.discogs.com/Don-Cherry-Carlos-Ward-Dollar-Brand-Universal-Silence/release/13545963 only 300 copies available unfortunately. And misplaced artwork as no one (except Don of course) is on this record. But this group is killing. Third World Underground is a stunning record!
  21. Thanks for the advice Scott! Haven’t tried that yet and will try when I have got some time for it
  22. Thanks Scott, maybe I explained it the wrong way. I have not checked the ITunes library on my pc yet. What I meant was the library on my IPhone. This contained the music from my ITunes library (with all the correct data). Apple Music changed all this data in my ‘Music’ app on my phone. From every artist there is something of course, yet I can’t find a lot of specific stuff by for example: Billy Harper, Hamiet Bluiett, Mal Waldron, Hannibal and so on.
  23. Ha that does not surprise me!
  24. Bought my copy on vinyl. Hanging in my music room now... such a beautiful cover!
  25. Thanks I can read! My comment was a general comment on the ridiculous price of the reissue (and with that, the rarity of this record on cd).
