  3. Lucky for the bassoonist he wasn't African American.
  4. Kelley's (quite expensive) history arrived with substantial damage. Luckily I had not yet paid the Dutch online retailer and was able to return the item free of charge. Why do these retailers even ship a damaged book from their warehouse to begin with? Time-wasters.
  5. That's not the norm for Jazz Messengers Mosaic sets. I have never received an unnumbered set from them. I bet more people who ordered the Johnson at the last moment directly from Mosaic received unnumbered books.
  6. Great set, and in better sound than I was led to believe.
  7. And Jesus would be about to return to 'Merica!

  9. After enjoying rereading Robin D.G. Kelley's Thelonious Monk biography, I thought it time to read some of his other books starting with To Make Our World Anew: A History of African Americans which he edited and wrote the final chapter(s) for. Freedom Dreams: The Black Radical Imagination also seems worth reading.
  10. Thelonious Monk Brilliant Corners (Platinum SHM-CD)
  11. Last I checked they were in stock https://www.jazzmessengers.com/en/76839/henry-threadgill/14-or-15-kestra-agg-dirt-and-more-dirt?search_query=threadgill&results=18 https://www.jazzmessengers.com/en/76838/henry-threadgill/double-up-plays-double-up-plus?search_query=threadgill&results=18
  12. Jazz Messengers has stock. It didn't seem a good idea to wait given the stellar review over at The Free Jazz Collective and the CD being limited to 1000 copies.
  13. Anthony Braxton Six Compositions (Quartet) 1984
  14. Anthony Braxton Quartet (Birmingham) 1985 (Leo Records)
  15. Marilyn Crispell & Gerry Hemingway Duo (Knitting Factory Works)
  16. Ed Blackwell Trio Walls-Bridges
  17. When I started listening to Coltrane, I preferred other versions of My Favorite Things, but since getting the ORG Music Hybrid SACD mastered by Bernie Grundman, I play it quite often. Like right now.
