  1. London jazz collector just made a posting about this with some suspicious claims...
  2. I have a hard time believing that one ever got completed!!!
  3. I listened to it again; I still prefer the Japo and ECM material from this vintage Something about the production sort of bugs me...sounds muffled/flat. Oh well different strokes...
  4. Enrico Rava "jazz a confronto" (Horo). Never was in a hurry to buy this title over the years but just recently found it for a cheap price. It's good but not nearly as nice as some of his Japo or ECM sessions from the same era. Typically stale Horo production values don't help. Andrew Hill "black fire" (blue note, mono "ear" USA). For nearly 20 years dealt with an ugly dark blue 70s label issue; finally found a nice original mono copy that did not break the bank. Roy Haynes!!
  5. I enjoyed this BFT but it's been crazy lately with my baby and toddler and the few identifications I got have already been pointed out! Thanks Hot Ptah!
  6. I must admit I only own his more "experimental" albums like "opera for tadanori Yokoo", "improvisation 1975", and a few electronic CDs on the Omega Point label. He also appears on part of the "helipolar egg" box with Michael Ranta and Harmut Geerken which is totally great.
  7. Yup he recorded a string of stellar albums in Japan!!
  8. Andrew Hill "smoke stack" (New York USA, mono "ear" blue note) Charles tolliver "new tolliver" (baystate, Japan) Mal Waldron/Terumasa Hino "remiscent suite" (RCA Victor ,Japan)
  9. Hey I just found my "kings in exile" LP; misfiled between Lee Konitz and Hans Koller. I'll have to play it again since it's been around 20 years since I last played it :0
  10. I love Area and have all their albums with Stratos. One of the few Italian prog bands I really enjoy. I've heard one of the Stratos solo Lps on cramps around 20 years ago and recall it being utterly unique but not something I would listen to more then once. I like the Paolo Tofani solo record on cramps as well.
  11. I only have one old album with him on it called "kings in exile". I recall it being somewhat in an art ensemble vein... Would like to explore more myself and curious to hear other responses..
  12. For many, many years I searched for "the feedback". Was quite happy with the recent reissue and it certainly saved me a ton of cash!
  13. I am; that's a great album. Have many of their CDs...there is a nice Die Schactel box set worth checking out that has a DVD component as well.
  14. Hozan Yamamoto "Silver world" (Philips, Japan) Anne Briggs "s/t" (Topic, UK) In a mellow mood tonight...
  15. Yup it's definitely up there in the top five or ten for sure! And the original DG issue is by far the best sounding edition; none of that weird clipping which is on the CD and later LP edition.
  16. Haha you did? Can't remember. That was two kids and many, many beers ago
  17. And now the second reissue LP I received today: Borje Fredriksson "intervall" (parlophone, Sweden) A "record store day" release in Europe apparently; a numbered edition of 500 copies. My first ever RSD purchase! Very happy to see this nicely done reissue come out...will save me $300-400 on an original issue. Sounds great so far...
  18. One to add to the list of neverending cool records to hear Currently playing one of two reissue LPs received in the mail today: Amancio D'Silva "hum dono" (vocalion, UK). A definite improvement on the CD version in terms of mastering/sound. Better bass and overall a more visceral impact...wish I knew this vinyl reissue was imminent when I bought the CD!! PS I wonder when "integration" will be reissued again? It's easily the stronger session in my book.
  19. Earlier: Steve Grossman "jazz a confronto" (Horo, Italy). A Brazilian tinged quintet date that starts out merely pleasant but by the time side two was near its end I was wanting more! This might be a "grower". Various "Ossiach Live" 3LP (BASF, Germany) a very patchy and uneven set but definitely some jewels amongst the rough. Some nice John Surman/Trio, a side long George Gruntz track, Weather Report, Anima Sound, and some Tangerine Dream too even. Had my eye on this set for nearly 20 years and only recently took the plunge on a nice copy for only $30.
  20. Bent Jadig "Danish jazzman 1967" (Debut/Think!, Japan). One of those deluxe exact replica Japanese reissues..great album and top notch sound and sleeve costing a tiny fraction of what an original would set me back!
  21. Matthias Eick "Midwest" (ECM, Germany). This is such a beautiful album...
