Memories, sweet memories... but can you still enjoy, say, Whitehouse ?
No and never did enjoy Whitehouse, but I love the Lemon Kittens and a few other cuts on this album!
The only neighbours album I have is the one with Braxton. I used to own the Kazamaki duo with Danny Davis but sold it years ago in leaner financial times. I do still have his two duo Lps with Chie Mukai and Takehisa Kosugi though...I'll have to spin the CDR I made of the Danny Davis duo again some day!
I used to own it twice. First time I did not really get into it and sold it only to buy it again a few years later. My opinion was not much different so I got rid of it again. Great players but the end result is a bit messy and the slightly murky recording quality does nr help matters.
Nice choice. Always wanted this one on vinyl but for whatever reason never did get a copy..."four elements" is another good one although I just have that on CD along with a few other CDs that focus more on his electronic work.
Not sure how to post a hyperlink but earlier today a copy of Sun Ra's "secrets of the sun" sold for over $1100 usd.
This is not even the first pressing! The labels are second issue ankh labels as opposed to first gold labels with large "SATURN" text and no ankh logo. Crazy money for a second issue me thinks...
Freddie Hubbard "open sesame" (Blue Note, King Japan)
Can "Tago Mago" (united artists, Germany) record 1; even after 20+ years of owning this album I still find record 2 a bit indulgent
Jean Claude Eloy "gaku no michi" (disques ades, France)
Have not played this in years; this and "shanti" are favorites of mine in the musique concrete realm.
My uncle attended at least one of the concerts with Ali and said it was excellent. Perhaps there was just no usable recording.
Damn yr uncle was hip!
I used to have this album but I never really got into it that much. I did keep "Babi Music" though which is totally killer and of similiar vintage.
I have a huge box jammed with Coda magazines ranging from 1966 to 1995 or so...almost complete starting from 1970/71. Tons of great stuff in those...
Thanks for posting that Belgrave DB article!
Here's a reissue suggestion:
Philip Catherine "stream"
It's his first solo album and really in demand due to the involvement of Marc Moulin. When LP copies turn up they sell for $300+
It's never been reissued and I believe Mr.Catherine is still alive so maybe some contact could me made?
I have a mint King issue of 1568, and I know a local collector that has an original in strong VG+ shape so, u know, I got to hold it in my hand and nerd out over the unobtainium right in my very presence
