  1. Better luck next time.
  2. The same thing happened to me as a college DJ. I had to do a lunchtime "soft rock" shift. I hated the idea so brought my out records (as usual for most shifts, 'cept the Canadian opera.) This was around '84, so I brought along R.E.M., played a slow X song, symphonic version of a Sex Pistols song (stick it to the program manager!), and assorted other "college radio" songs & such that weren't overly aggressive but not traditional "soft rock." I ended up being about 5 minutes short, so I look through the station's LPs. "Okay, I'll throw the concept a bone and play some James Taylor. Let's see, oh gawd not 'Fire & Rain"...hmm, maybe this 'Steamroller' cut." Boy was I surprised. Never imagined he had such a potty mouth. It was definitely a revelation!!!!!
  3. Like earlier posters I liked Rod Stewart during the Beck,Faces and earlier solo albums but after "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" -I bailed. I never did care for Elton John.
  4. I remember one day I was on the air during a remote and I needed a song quick and I put on a live copy of James Taylor doing "Steamroller Blues". I thought -James Taylor-family friendly-right?-wrong!!!-defintely not a family friendly version of the tune. Needless to say it didn't happen again. Luckily no complaints and no I didn't get canned but just one of several reasons I don't care for James.
  5. kulu se mama you're one lucky mofo!!!!!
  6. They're rather prevalent in Colorado. They say you're supposed to make yourself as big as possible if you're confronted by a mountain lion. If you don't have a large caliber rifle then hopefully you'll have quick and easy access to something that can serve as a weapon and hope to god that you don't have to use it. The man was lucky his wife was handy and didn't spend all her time freaking out. This is an animal that can take down a bull elk and one on one against a human I would generally put my money on the cat.
  7. Not too bad-in the low 40's.
  8. Thanks for the post. Hopefully CD Universe will list it.
  9. Hope he get's well soon. I'm not ready to see him exit the stage.
  10. The Sharapova-Williams match should be interesting which probably won't be the case of Federer vs victim.
  11. I imagine that the honeymoon between Drew and BoSox fans will be short lived.
  12. I'm still trying to figure out the attraction of what has become so big about (1)Giving air time to people who not only can't sing on key but appear to have lost the key (2)Admittedly talented people who dispense one generic pop song after the other (3)The"idolization"of three hosts who week in and week out build themselves up at the expense of others. I await enlightement.
  13. May a good time be had by one and all.
  14. It snowed over the weekend here but has now cleared out. Currently 35 degrees.
  15. The forecast calls for snow this weekend but right now it's clear and we got up to 43 degrees.
  16. Damn I'm jealous.
  17. The sun came out and it warmed up a tad. Currently 32 degrees.
  18. Well they were but they got kicked out by the Bee Gees.
  19. Good for her. It's a well deserved honor.
  20. That was an interesting pairing. As for Willie and Ryan Adams I have to go with Clem on that one I heard a cut off that one and it really sucked.
  21. Is that the Dave Clark Five? If so, then I don't think so. In fact I'm pretty sure he hasn't written any such songs. No definitely not that Dave Clark. Magnificent Goldberg may have answered the question.
  22. Serious or not you raised my awareness of "The Gigolo and I thank you.
  23. Check out "Live At Newport" on Atlantic records.
