Sorry to hear about your troubles. All the advice here is great. My step-mother was recently unemployed. She got up every week day at 8am and made it her goal to send her resume to at least 2 companies every day. Sometimes she spent all day on the computer looking for opportunities. It took 6 months, but she just recently landed a dream job with a very established company that is paying her the salary she wanted and the benefits. She's happy as a clam. Have faith in yourself and your abilities and be aggressive! Go out there and get what you want!

OK, so the story behind the pic is this: We usually do a tour of northern Michigan which is produced by this guy Tim Scully. Scully is a bassist and music lover and his house is decorated with various instruments on the walls. One day I was getting kind of ansy waiting around for the next gig, since we had been staying at his house while on this tour. So I started taking down the instruments on the walls to see if they would actually play. I think that was when Root Doctor was playing the tour because I'm pretty sure Marge, our lead singer's wife, was the one taking the photos. She has photos of me playing drums (no, they weren't on the wall, but set up in his rehearsal space), upright bass, bass guitar, saxophone (alto and tenor), clarinet, trumpet, and trombone. Probably guitar somewhere, too. Can I actually play those instruments? No, but I can get a tone and play a few notes on the horns. I think the trombone had something stuck in it and I was having a lot of difficulty getting air through it, hence the expression. But it looks pretty natural to me from seeing other trombonists.

Road trip. Oh wait... that's like right up the road from me. The other place I need to get to is the Jerusalem Bakery on Michigan Ave. My wife says it's the bomb. The hummus and the flat bread is fantastic, so she says.

Grant Hill will probably be coming back to the Pistons. I don't think they'll have a problem re-signing Billups, either. But I have serious doubts whether they will ever be able to contend for a title with Saunders at the helm. Anybody who gets schooled by Mike Brown is in a whole heap of trouble.

Yep. Love the guy, but he did put out some crap and he probably would've put out much more of it had he lived (along with some gems, I'm sure). There's an interesting interview/article with McCartney in the New Yorker (maybe a couple issues ago?) that I read yesterday. Love him or hate him, he's led a very intersting life. I like his music. I have a soft-spot for this record, probably because my mom (RIP) listened to it endlessly when it first came out. I was five or six years old. She also listened to Double Fantasy all the time, so I have a soft spot for that one, too.

No, but you can delete the entire thread if you'd like, since you started the thread. Look at the lower left hand corner of the last post on the page. You'll see a white box that says "moderation options". Choose "delete this topic" and voila. Of course, you might hear from Allen Lowe if you delete his awesome dream!

Scott, SH uses vBulletin. I never used ALT-S. In fact, I never knew you could do that. I don't know how or if I can restore that function but I'll look into it. The orange square next to threads means you've read the thread, but I'm not sure about posting.

Well, finally I have an answer as to why the search engine didn't work: Full text searching is not supported until MySQL 4.x. We just now upgraded MySQL on the server to 4.1.18. We were running 3.23 before. I turned on full text searching because the regular search mode was causing the server to drag and slow down really bad. But of course when I turned it on, the search function lost all of it's usability! I'm so glad it works as it should now. You can use quotes around a phrase to find instances of that phrase. You can also use + and - modifiers to refine your search.

I feel the same way, but I figure I'll completely adapt within a month or two. Guy You will get used to it. I have the same reaction when suddenly a frequently visited website is changed. In a few weeks it will feel like an old pair of shoes.
